Actually, the moment of looking through some of the photos, I had taken some months ago during a museum visit, gave me the spontaneous idea of trying to draw a gorgonopsid instead of my usual dinosaurs. So, I started with sketching a simplified skeleton seen in the lower left sketch and then adding some muscles in a layer atop the bones. That wasn't easiest part as I do have only some basic understanding of muscles, but I find especially those confusing that attach to the arm and shoulder girdle.Well, that reconstruction is nothing close to be serious, just fun and a bit of interest of how the Permian fauna could have looked.

The Gorgonops is panting and pulled it's lips back. If I had drawn it with a closed mouth then the teeth wouldn't be visible.

Wow I never knew this guy even existed, its 100% beautiful! What's that slot for his canines in his jaw it's almost like his mouth was shaped around his fangs.

Aww, that's great to hear I could introduce this species to you. I gave it some extra oral tissue, something like a sheath, to cover and protect its teeth. In the lower jaw of Gorgonops you can find some depression to accommodate its larger canines.

I just used rough brush strokes to paint the drawing. If I ever go for drawing a new Gorgonopsid, then I will take care for adding a visible fur.
