Description
Here's a scene I originally created for the =3D-Asuarus speed modeling contest and I liked the look so went on to develop it into a proper pic. If you're curious, the original (created in 2 hours) is here [link]If you do 3D and you're interested in speed modeling, head over to the club's page and join in next time
Modeled & rendered in Cinema4D. Full version available via download link at 1920x1200.
Render time was.. I forgot to write that down, but a few hours.

Very nice work, well done. I also like the fact that you made
it large enough as a download to use as a desktop, that is
very cool. Just for that I'll have to it.
Cheers,
Oth

Hehe, it's quite saturated already. Any more and it just starts looking blobby with patches of flat colour. The gold material could still do with some work tho.

Modern science of the middle ages tahts' what i think of when I see the fancy glasswork and liquids, sitting atop artistic an dolder-style stands...really nice

The design reminds me of those egyptian style Goa'uld things from Stargate.

Ohh, I make all those myself. They're built using Cinema4D's material system, no texture maps

That rock that is used as a cap would have been better blue.. I personally like the original. Anyways, good work. I am still new to 3D, I tried tonight to make a bacteria, but it didn't worked well.

The stone material was really difficult to get right and I did try to keep it blue but then it kept drawing the eye upwards and away from the rest of the pic. This one took too long to render so I will probably rework it at some point to improve that and work some more on the base and cap.
Bacteria are difficult, but if you add fresnels to your materials you can get them to look better quite easily.

It looks great, and everything is really realistic (except of the cork... it looks a little plastic to me).
I like the gold standard at the bottom

Thanks
The cap in there is meant to be a pebble and I didn't have any around to work from but I think the specular highlights are just about right on it. It still came out looking flat tho, and I don't understand why yet.

Ah. You might want to use a displacement map. Those can be great for adding detail to 'structures' like rock or wood.

I could use a displacement map yea.. it would have to be very toned down tho, since the stone is meant to keep the bottle pretty much airtight so has to be quite polished.

Yea i understand However some slightly dented look will make it look more convincing.

It's a great piece I think the bottle lid could be worked on but I must admit I love the gold finish

Thankyou
A lot of people have commented on the lid suggesting the same thing. I'll need to get hold of a pebble from somewhere so I have something to go on first..

I think I burned myself out the last week, that's why I've not been around for the last few days. Ideas are still really difficult to come up with tho.
