I think you could scratch them that'll be like ice cubes.

That pic looks like glass.

yea i know, the edges dont look quite right. i used a displacement map on them to try and make every side have that wobbly slightly melted look but for some reason it wouldnt map properly to the cubes so it only did the top and bottom, thats why it looks this way. some day i might go back to it and try to fix the problem, and then it should improve it a bit. thanks

those look like glass or plastic cubes... wheres the white air bubbles, wheres the surface scratches?

i tried with scratches, it ruined the refraction, so think of them as being left out in the air for a while so theyve begun to melt on the surface. as for bubbles, im holding off on them until i stick the cubes in a drink because all the extra refraction would cause the renders to take several years. these would look a lot more like ice with different lighting, but its really hard to do that without them reflecting off eachother and just ending up completely white when theyre in a stack like this. ive only spent about a day on each of these ones and im still learning how to light them properly so future pics may look better

Hmm... I like it. Don't have to deal with ripples either!

thanks. yea the lack of ripples is nice, although i cant help but think a little puddle at the bottom would make them look more attached to the floor.. ehh, beat me over the head please, i cant stop!
