Description (In the Langston Universe)

Originally designed as the next generation of exploration cruisers; designs specs for the Olympus-Class where abandoned by Starfleet Corps of Engineers and Starfleet Operation in 2268 in favor of the refitting the Constitution and Miranda-class vessels. Yet, somehow the design specs for the Olympus-class mysteriously became classified and later removed from all public record. Even Admiral Heihachiro Nogura didn't have clearance to retrieve the databanks.
When he approached Fleet Admiral Alexzander Marcus, the Commander-in-Chief of Starfleet; he was ordered to not peruse the matter.
But in secret the "nonexecuting" organization called Section 31, led by Fleet Admiral Marcus no less proceeded to construct the prototype vessel "USS Olympus" at the classified shipyards at the planet Eris.  This alternate version of the Olympus was meant for one thing, and one thing only....espionage and combat.

On Stardate 2270.23, equipped with an experimental Federation cloaking device, the "USS Olympus" stole roughly twenty of the remaining embryos from the 20th century Eugenics Wars. When Cold Station 12 sent out a distress call, the USS Enterprise responded and reported to Starfleet Command requesting assistance, but Fleet Admiral Marcus ordered the Enterprise to stand down as Starfleet Intelligence would investigate and apprehend the "marauder". Later on, Lt. Uhura found a single discoloration in the subspace signal, suggesting that Admiral Marcus was using Starfleet Command on Earth as a relay. Commander Spock reviewed the sensor reading on the "marauder" from Cold Station 12 and discovered energy spikes similar to Federation starships. This prompted Kirk to disobey orders and resume his search for the "marauder" only to discover that Admiral Marcus was in command of the "USS Olympus" and the Olympus and marauder were the same ship. This left Admiral Marcus with little recourse but to attempt to utilize his command prefix codes to initiate the enterprise's auto-destruct.
Spock was able to disable the auto-destruct and block out any further attempts, this prompted Marcus to attempt to destroy the Enterprise by conventional means. Although the Enterprise suffered major damage, the USS Lexington, USS Europa, and USS Ares arrived to render aid. The conflict resolved when Marchus, self-destructed his own ship rather than face general court-martial.
