Stardate 2372.5, Starfleet's Corps of Engineer's developed a new class of ship as a mean to combat the Dominion as the Cardassian Empire retook Starbase Deep Space 9, forcing the Federation's 7th and 9th fleets to fall back at Starbase 217. The U.S.S. Prometheus was designed to operate with a crew less then a hundred. Aside from it's regenerative shields, ablative hull armor, pulse phaser array and quantum torpedoes; the Prometheus was equipped to have a multi vector assault mode. Each module hade it's own self sustaining warp core, warp nacelles and impulse engines; essentially there own separate ship. Although a majority of the crew where stationed in the chevron section (primary hull) each module was controlled by the main bridge. By Stardate 2373.58, the Prometheus was completed at the Titan Shipyards at Jupiter.
