The Yeager-Class was Starfleet's first Dreadnought prior to the Federation-Class in the mid 2260's. Yeager-Class starships where more often placed as taskforce or battle group command ships and where under the command of Commodores or Rear Admirals. At the time of the 2230's - 2250's, Yeager-class starships where the most heavily armed ships in the Federation Armada and only 6 of them where in service as they proved to be too costly to produce.
Stardate 2239.5: The U.S.S. Yeager responded to the distress call from Invernus V after the negotiations with Klingon's had failed and the U.S.S. Shenzhou was able to escape the fight. Fortunately the U.S.S. Europa and the U.S.S. Yeager manage to defeat the Klingon D-6. Soon afterwards Vice Admiral Terral transferred his flag to the Yeager and took command of the 5th Fleet.
