I thought I give you guys the lowdown on how I make my glowing effects in PhotoShop.So, using one of my images, I madethis for you guys to use, if you're interested in applying my glow style to your own art and characters.
I know it,s a big file, so please, be patient while it downloads.

You can also use linear dodge, divide or dodge for glowing effects too. Though, divide you will have to invert that color.

I just did my best to follow this in GIMP and it proved moderately successful. There aren't all that many tutorials for GIMP so I've been trying to translate Photoshop tutorials so that I can do the same with GIMP. Thanks for the tips and I hope to soon start uploading glowing characters!

I can't figure out how to make the outer glow work. Help please?

Well I can't use the "Layers" tab to get effect, so I'm on the effects bar on the right hand side (by the way I'm using elements 7) but I can't get the glow to color enough, It's like always white-ish.

I use PS7 for this, so I wouldn't know anything about Elements.

I know you're not talking to me but I would like to tell you, Paint can't do this, so, try to get a free program like, Paint.net, Paint Tool Sai, etc..... you may be able to do this effect on those programs.
