Many people have asked me how I color my characters, and now I've decided enough's enough! I've decided to update my coloring tutorial. So here, ladies and gentlemen, is my new and improved DIGITAL COLORING TUTORIAL!!! **Taa-da-daa-da-da-da-DAA!** X3This tutorial will be in three parts. Also for these tutorials, I'll be using 's Becky the Hedgehog for the whole demonstration! Let's give her a round of applause!
This first part deals with making professional-looking lineart and adding in the base colors in PhotoShop 7.0+.
This tutorial is meant to used by mouse users, although I think pen-tablet users are also welcomed.
The file is 900x14400 pixels, and is over 2.7 MBs. This is available in zip file format, since I can't seem to get the file itself to upload - it seems that DA have problems with files with dimensions over 12000 pixels, so that's why it's in a zip file.
Now all you have to is RIGHT-CLICK on the "DOWNLOAD" button and go to "SAVE TARGET AS..." Once you have it saved, RIGHT-CLICK on the zip file and go to "Extract to folder..." You se should find the large jpeg in there.

No. All you need to is the like the character for the design and feel.

Look, the all that I've said so far is all the advice I can give you, alright? Just remember what I said before and you'll be fine. Remember, the only person your characters should matter to is you. Believe in that, and your character will be just fine. This conversation is over now.

I guess she got tired of it and wanted to move on, or maybe it was the haters, IDK. I do miss her, though. She was a great Sonic artist, almost everyone on DA and FA knew who she was.

I have photoshop elements 9... I don't think it has a pen tool, and if it does, I absolutely cannot find it. Help, please?

this is a really awesome tutorial! I have photoshop elements, so it doesn't work the same (no pen tool ) but i googles alternitives ^^

So I tried on using the pencil tool like in your tutorial, but it won't work...
It doesn't shape's the brush like yours and there are some explenation marks besides the settings in the window, everytime when I want to set them...
Any clue why this won't work? (between I use Photoshop CS4)

You need to use the "pen" tool, not "pencil" tool.
As for the brush settings, I don't know since I'm using only PhotoShop CS2.
