There's a plugin made specifically to import SKP files to MMD here:
adash333.wordpress.com/2010/02…

This plugin is MUCH better than the one shown in this tutorial, because not only will it resize it to MMD standards, but will let you select one part of the whole 3D model as well.

Well, to me it's MUCH better than Metasequoia, which seems to be the alternative. It isn't hard to use at all, but it might take a little learning.

i did excatly what it said but it doesnt work i try both ".x" and .x (dunno if there's a difference), didnt work then change the color to normal didnt work. Cause i place it on MMD a message pops out saying it stop responding then it shut down. And in Pmd a message box appaer saying something in japasse with a yellow triangle.

CaramelChocolatez In reply to tobioreo [2011-07-02 07:39:49 +0000 UTC]

Well when you export your model from Google SketchUp you have to just type:

.x

so that it could be a DirectX file. If you put it with the quotations it won't make it a DirectX file.

Also, when you go to PMD editor (I'm not sure which version you have. I'm using the 0.0.6.3 Slim DX version) You have to click that first window where you open models from, then click on:

File >> then hover your mouse on (J).
Now you should see two other option pop up from the (J) tab thingy. The top one will say some random Japanese characters (or squares if you don't have Japanese language installed on your computer) but mainly you'll be able to see PMD or (P). That top option will let you bring in a .pmd file, or rather a model file.

The option you really want to click on is the second option that says X or (X). This second option will allow you to bring in a DirectX file. (the file type that you saved your model from SketchUp). So click on the second option and when you do that look for your SketchUp model. and then you'll be able to see it in PMD Editor.

I'm not sure if this solves your problem or not, because it sounds like maybe you made a mistake when saving your model from SketchUp. If this doesn't solve or clear up the issue then I'm sorry. I've never quite experienced such a problem like that before. Also sorry for the uber late reply.

Sorry about my previous comment. I eventually figured it out. I just downloaded a later (and partially translated. yay!) version of Pmd Editor and the option was there. I guess I was using an old version that didn't support it.

CaramelChocolatez In reply to paloiu222 [2011-04-27 05:19:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh no worries; I would've told you to try the same exact thing.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

paloiu222 [2011-04-26 14:12:07 +0000 UTC]

I know this may be a little irrelevant, but I'm trying to save a pmd file in PmdEditor to an .x file. However, in PmdEditor when I go to the (F) option, there's no (X) option like there is in your screenshot.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CaramelChocolatez In reply to paloiu222 [2011-07-02 07:43:17 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure if I answered this already, but maybe its because you're using a different version than I am?

At the time of this tutorial I'm using the 0.0.6.3 Slim DX version of PMD Editor. so when I go to (F)>> (J) I'll see two other tabs pop up from (J) and the second one will have an (X) and then I can bring in the model from there.

I'm so very sorry if I haven't answered this and I just left you hanging. I'm also sorry if I answered already, I'm just now noticing how long I've left these messages here.

CaramelChocolatez In reply to zetsumichan [2011-03-19 05:53:25 +0000 UTC]

Well in order for me to help you a bit; you need to specify:

Are you trying to save as an X file in SketchUp, or PMDEditor? Also what version of PMDEditor are you using? If you're trying to save an .X file on a really old version I don't think it'll work out too good. The version I used for this tutorial is 0.0.6.3(Slim DX).

I saw something on a MMD stage saying they made it in Google SketchUp, So I google'd Google ScetchUp, and downloaded (downloading, really) it, and then I got on dA, and looked up Google SketchUp, and the very first thing I saw was part one of this, so I read it, and This is epic <3

okay wait how do i make it a model file, because when i got it in pmd its clear?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CaramelChocolatez In reply to blackout17 [2011-02-16 21:35:08 +0000 UTC]

*sorry for the late reply*

To make it a model file you just go in PMD editor and save it normally, it'll save it as a .pmd (model file) for you.

It's clear? Well I'd say to open it back up in Google SketchUp, color the model in there first, then export it, then fix the colors in PMD editor if you don't like it.

Because I think if you try to color some things in PMD Editor it may not turn out like how you want it to.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

blackout17 In reply to CaramelChocolatez [2011-02-17 00:32:43 +0000 UTC]

its okay, i'll try that when i get the chance, i don't have my laptop with me right now so i'll tell you if i get it to work.

yeah its clear like the texture wont work in pmd editor, so i'll have to retry coloring it in google sketchup.

thanks.
