Here I have made a tutorial for multiple UV Layers, available with the most recent version of XPS, thanks to
Although UV layers, and more specifically multiple UV layers, appeared in, and were supported by, mesh and .mesh.ascii files a long long time ago, XNALara has never supported them. They are however very useful when used correctly, and I assume for this reason XNAaraL implemented their use in XPS recently.

You will find out above how to use them to your advantage, making more realistic meshes with lightmaps. NOTE THAT although I have used Lara's hair as an example, this also works on Lara's arms (as explained in the tutorial) and on a lot of older video game meshes (like TRL Lara) which use half a texture and mirror it on both sides of a mesh.

TUTORIALS YOU MAY NEED:

Lightmaps Tutorial: carbint.deviantart.com/art/Lig… (NOTE that although this tutorial explains how to use Lightmaps on posed models, you can also use the techniques described to generate lightmaps on unposed models to add them as part of the mesh when you release it)

Hmmm...I wonder if this works on DOA hair....(rendering hair in Blender 2.49b is a nightmare anyways, and I haven't even TOUCHED Blender 2.68 yet...) Thank you so much for the tutorials.

and will this work on any model and any parts i want to remove? like in this model:
deant01.deviantart.com/art/DSc…
i want to remove the lower part keeping her upper part without the head too.

Thank you for all the tutorials.   I really mean it even if I forget to comment. lol

Funny thing I was just going to look up how to do this since I wanted to add lightmaps to objects and scenes since I saw other people do it. Also this will help me with some models I'm having issues with lightmaps with.

You're welcome And cool! Yeah this also works with environments where a texture for grass, for example, is tiled and used over and over, so making an ordinary UV map for lightmaps would also repeat over and over, but doing this you can make a lightmap go over everything like a blanket Can't wait to see some cool HQ environs!
