EDITChanged the preview file into the tutorial file, since people kept asking if I deleted my tutorial (which I didn't, you could get it by hitting the "Download" button on the right).
So to stop the confusion, here is the tutorial without the preview.
How to draw male eyes that is!
Since there are many differences between to male eye and the female eye, I chose to create a tutorial about the male eye only. I will do the female eye someday as well.
I'm sorry if the image is small and blurry, but I don't want people to steal this. I will publish a book sometime and I will use this tutorial as well (which is a lot bigger and clearer), so yeah... sorry once again!

*waits for the eye to blink...* you did an excellent job with this tutorial. but i have a question, some people recommend various types of pencils to use, did you use any?
i never found them helpful, but that's probably because i don't know how to use them.

Good question by the way. I sure did use a couple of different pencils. For this drawing I mainly used 4H, 2H, HB and 2B 0.5 mechanical pencils ( [link] ). With those pencils you can create excellent details and they're easy to work with. But I also used a 4B pencil, to darken things up.

do you think this quality of art could be done with simply a single mechanical pencil or no?

I would love to tell you, but I'm not sure it will be released in english as well since I live in the Netherlands. I'll figure out a way though. I hope!

Wow! I saw this when you posted it, but didn't take too much look at it until today when I used it. I must thank you so much for making it - it helped em concentrate on the details in and around the eye which is really helping out my drawing!

ohh, i will definatly try that. I find it easier to draw female eyes. With male eyes i'm never sure about the subtleness of them. I try and make them macho manly, big, no shape and really bushy eyebrows. :S
