Description
Here it is, as promised.Yes, I have a tablet. Yes, this should work with any version of Photoshop even though I used 7. Yes, I did it totally on the computer, but you can scan a sketch/ink and apply the same methods.
I think that covers everything...but probably not.

am i that difficult to understand? wow, i'll try to say it more especific. i used to draw my character in the traditional method of illustration.
i draw on paper, scan it, fix it, and color it, but i think that process takes a really long time, and i want you to teach me some of your technics, of drawing entirely on the pc. its more about the line art thing, i have a tablet, but i dont know what is the problem that cant let me draw that kind of line, or clean line, alright?
and, well, consider this as a fancy thing, but i wish YOU could tell me about my problem, i hope so, and tnx for answer me

celesse In reply to isaicomix [2005-08-14 07:11:53 +0000 UTC]
Hmm, okay, I think I understand. My tutorials detail how I do my art on the computer (I use the inking tool for sketching) but I'm not sure what's causing you to not be able to make a clean line. I use Painter for all my inking because I can get a clean stroke with it. Usually Photoshop makes the lines all jagged on me and I have to spend forever cleaning them up. Are you trying to use Photoshop to ink? That could be the problem.

oooooooooooooohhhh, greeeeaat!!!, well i'll try a bit with painter, by the way, i have the 8 version, and i tried with the tutorial and duhh!! a mess, hahaa, but tnx for being so kind i really really appreciate it.
would be ask a lot if you could check the gallery for (dunno) some critic, please??
buy only if you got the time or somethin', anyway tnx

celesse In reply to isaicomix [2005-08-15 01:01:40 +0000 UTC]
I know Painter 6 is vastly different from the other versions, but 8 should at least have the same inking tool.
And sorry, but I'm not much of a critic and don't really enjoy giving critiques.

ooh ok tnx anyway, in my Dev id, i used some painter (basic really), and the line thing, well, i guess that with practice will be easier, tnx tnx.

It's just a file Windows creates to display thumbnails in folder view. It's not important.

When I got to the shading, the layer I use to shade, for same reason, nothing shows up. Am I doing something wrong?
π: 0 β©: 1
celesse In reply to yuugiusa [2005-06-19 00:17:34 +0000 UTC]
Make sure the transparency isn't locked for that layer.
π: 0 β©: 1
yuugiusa In reply to celesse [2005-06-19 12:55:37 +0000 UTC]
So I can't use a different layer for shading?
π: 0 β©: 1
celesse In reply to yuugiusa [2005-06-20 00:13:02 +0000 UTC]
You can, just unlock the transparency so you can draw on the layer.

i also have a quick question for you (i forgot to ask it) when i try to select an area (such as the hair) on the first layer, it selects the whole picture, or the parts that i touched up with the pencil tool. how do i make it so i can select the area instead of the whole picture or the places i touched up
π: 0 β©: 1
celesse In reply to KURAMASmyFRIEND [2005-04-12 19:47:07 +0000 UTC]
You have to select it on the inking layer. The magic wand will select everything there's a "border" around, so you have to make sure there's something there to stop it from going further.

Scarabus In reply to ??? [2005-01-21 14:09:37 +0000 UTC]
I would never use the Magic Wand like you did in 2.gif.. It will leave artifacts around the lines and it's a pain to find and fix them all.
I suggest you just create a layer underneath the line-layer, and just fill using the regular rectangle selection tool, and then erase all the excess color around
the edges of the coat. That way you won't get the artifacts
π: 0 β©: 1
celesse In reply to Scarabus [2005-01-22 03:29:32 +0000 UTC]
But either way you're left having to comb the edges, so I don't see what difference it makes.
