when i try to push the baked stick into the unbaked lolli, it mushes the lolli with my fingers and flattens it out. :/ is there any way to stop this?

Would it help to make one end of the lolli stick pointy before baking so when you stick it in it will be easier, and avoiding that "scrunch" effect?

Wow this was pretty useful and actually looks easy to make. I never thought making things like this could be done by just anybody.xD Thanks for this great tut!
But one question, where do you get you baking clay? Or does it matter which clay you use?

I've got a question. Where can you get the eyepins, how much and how many do you get in a pack? Ok that was more than one.
I love your tutes!

I buy mine from AC Moore or Michael's. They sell them in packs of 100 or so, you can also buy large amounts from firemountaingems.com

Okay, I have a couple of questions as I will begin to do clay art soon...
1. How do you glaze? I know this must sound stupid, but do you like, dip the item in the glaze, or paint it on with a pencil? :3
2. Doesn't parts tend to fall off once baked? ΓΆ

Hello! Would like to ask how do you secure the eye pin at the top? I'm afraid that it may come off even after baking.

chat-noir In reply to snowskin [2008-08-07 17:06:33 +0000 UTC]
You're in luck, I covered that in my latest article here: [link] How can we prevent eyepins/loops from falling out?
This is a very common problem that a lot of clay users have.
Headpins are a very simple solution. I use these a lot. Instead of an eyepin you insert this one from the bottom of your charm up. There is a little foot, or "head", to the pin that will grip the charm from the bottom. Here is an image of one
[link]
Also squirting some liquid clay onto the eyepin before inserting the pin and baking can make it sturdier.
Placing the eyepin further into the clay so the eye is halfway covered is also a good way of getting a better grip. The downside is that you will no longer be able to open the "eye" of the eyepin.

In this tute I used acrylic based floor varnish but you can also use Sculpey glaze, or right now I use triple thick glaze.

I favorited this just because it looked WAY YUMMY
I'm joking. I never knew you could bake things TWICE. I always thought, that you could only bake for the amount of time stated on the packet of polymer clay. Otherwise it would burn.
Therefore I always had to use cocktail sticks for the lollipop sticks (which didn't really work well!)
Also thankyou for telling how to make the lollipop colours marble together like that, without looking lumpy, like mine do

I am so glad you found this to be useful. it is a popular misconception that clay can only be baked once.

Thankyou soooo much Honestly - I've had such trouble making cupcakes because the sprinkles get squashed when you press them on - now I can just bake the sprinkles on their own and they wont get squished when I press them into the cupcake

Depending on what clay you use, if it's Sculpey brand clay it can bake for 15 minutes at 275 Degrees Fahrenheit
