EDIT:
Here are some common questions and the answers.

Is it okay to rebake the clay stick?
Yup it's entirely safe to re-bake clay. (although within reason. You can't bake something 100 times). Some even say re-baking makes the clay stronger. You can check out [link] for more information. That site has everything you need to know about clay.

So it says not to bake it over a certian time ok? Well how do I bake the lollie top without overbaking the stick?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chat-noir In reply to Ajagee24701 [2007-08-17 04:02:54 +0000 UTC]

It is safe to re-bake the stick. The only time problems occur is when an item is excessively baked (maybe 5+ times) or if the oven is set at the wrong temperature. If polymer clay is baked at a temperature above 300 degrees Fahrenheit it can burn and PVC can give off toxic fumes. Baking in the oven removes the plasticizer from the clay so it is no longer mold-able. Baking an item twice is not a problem.

(Major Long Comment, Super late reply too) My sis and I were browsin the search engine for tutorials, which to tell you all you made so simple for us simple minded

anyways I was wondering why don't you hold the lollipop swirl with something flat like a book(don't let it mush x_O) and make an opening in the lollipop for the stick to go in =3 than you smush it lightly to make it stick XD This way you get a circle like lollipop instead a mushed lollipop =3

-Thanks for Reading >w👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chat-noir In reply to Lilblkrose [2007-07-29 16:34:04 +0000 UTC]

That's something one could try. ^_^ the only thing is you will have to make sure the hole is not too big and the stick is securely in. Otherwise the stick can easily pull out or even fall out.

This was the first tutorial I made (and most likely the worst ^_^; ) There are a few errors and flaws in it.

moon-finder In reply to ??? [2007-07-09 23:43:44 +0000 UTC]

What would you suggest baking it on? Like on foil, in a bowl, on a plate...what?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chat-noir In reply to moon-finder [2007-07-10 00:53:39 +0000 UTC]

I have a small baking sheet. (Like for making cookies) You can line it with foil and bake your clay on it. Or buy a cookie sheet cheap from a local thrift store and bake right on it. It's just that once polymer clay touches something it can only be used for polymer clay because it is not food safe.

moon-finder In reply to chat-noir [2007-07-10 01:46:24 +0000 UTC]

Ok. Becuse I bake my clay on foil and it's always gotten a little borwn tinged on the bottom. Thank you for the advice!! (Great tutorials by the way! ^.^)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chat-noir In reply to moon-finder [2007-07-10 01:50:13 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much

Well it can also be the temperature. You might want to lower it a bit is they are browning. Certain colors of clay (like translucent and some yellows) burn very easily when baked at the recommended clay temperature. I usually bake them at 200-250 degrees if I worry and I keep my eye on the oven.

Ahh I can't manage to get the stick in without squashing the lollipop =_= Do you have any tips for the heavy handed clutz's out there

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chat-noir In reply to eightdollarbill [2007-05-20 00:36:42 +0000 UTC]

Hm well the only real advice I have is to make the sticks skinnier and pointed at one end. If they are thinner and pointed at one end they might go in easier. Oh, or you can take your lolli pop tops and put them in the freezer to harden up a bit before putting the stick in. They'll retain their shape better when cold. ^_^ I hope this can help you out a bit.

Actually yes. I am going to upload one tomorrow.
I am making the following tutorials:
-How to make a plate
-How to make a plate of breakfast foods
-How to make a plate of lunch foods
-How to make a sushi cane

So be on the look out for those. Then once I finish all those I'll put up a new poll in my journal and everyone can vote for the next one. ^_^

You're very welcome ^_^
You bake it. In this tutorial you bake the stick first and then assemble the lolli pop. Then you bake the whole thing again. I just don't show any images of baking.
