I've never used air dry clays, so I'm not really sure if there is a liquid variety.
If you just want to make syrup like I made in this tutorial then, instead of liquid clay, you can use ground up chalk pastels and acrylic medium. Like a gloss medium. Or even try using colored resins. They will air dry and will give you a similar liquid look.

You can use liquid clays to make the syrup, or you can use paints and acrylic mediums. They don't need to be baked and can just air dry.

I ended up finding it at JoAnn Fabrics in the clay section. A lot of craft stores don't have it in stock (which is very weird) but you can easily find it online.

Are some translucent liquid clays better then others? The one I have is sculpey, but instead of looking clear the way yours does in the picture it looks very white and the syrup does not turn out transparent at all but a very solid color.

Hello, could I link this and perhaps some of your other tutorials on [link] ? I'll probably just link to the page, not actually put the image up, unless that's alright.

So if you bake the clay then it'll harden, and you can make the pancake into jewelery?

I might not do this project in particular, but I just bought some clay and I would LOVE to use this as a hlelp guild for other things. ^_^ I love the syrup idea... trans clay and pastel...
is that the oil pastel or a chalk pastel though?

I'm gonna use air-dry polymer clay (but I haven't bought yet, traditional needs to be baked and we only have a microwave.), so will the liquid clay work?
Or maybe some instructions on baking polymer clay using microwave?

this is an old comment, so i dont know if your still looking for an answer, but about useing liquid clay without an oven. i dont hink it will work. you will have to check the back of the bottle and see if it can air dry, or is it has to be baked. if you cant bake it, you can always paint the syrup onto the airdry clay =3

ShweeWolf In reply to kittykatklub1 [2010-10-27 01:44:26 +0000 UTC]
in regards to your comment on this pancake tutorial:
instead of using pastels, im sure anything that has the color, and is dusty, would work. rust or food seasonings that are fine and the same color.
now, you may not be interested anymore, cause this is an old comment, but i just felt like answering ^^
