I would think so. I just use polymer clay because it is oven curable. Other clays can be used it is just that they have to be cured in different ways.

They are also called called eyepins. They are a little metal stick with a small "foot" at the end. You insert it from the bottom up and the tiny "foot" prevents your pin from being pulled out of the clay.

So, with this kind of pin is it possible to make a charm out of it? Like cutting the excess wire/metal and bending it into an eyelet? (I'm about to buy a bunch of clay and some pins with the eyelet ready made, so I'd like your knowledgeable opinion^.^)

Eye pins already have an eye that you can pull string or a chain or whatever you want through the hole. Yes, that would work.

I suck at clay but my little ten-year-old cousin wanted to learn to make desserts with her play-doh and this really helped me teach her. Thanks, now she's off my back. Cupcake jewelry is always awesome.

Hehe..your my inspiration cuz at art class we had to do clay foods and you could pick whatever you want and i made a cupcake..it was so uber hard to do and it came out terrible..=[

Meaning consistency wise?
Well it depends on the clay. Sculpey III and Fimo soft are very soft and play-dough like. While the hard clays are more dense like salt water taffy. But by working them in your hands it becomes quite soft and malleable.
Hard as in making clay items?
It's quite fun and easy once you get the hang of it. It's a lot fo trial and error.
