My clay dirties up pretty quickly - even with clean hands! Ahhh!

A good cleaning trick is to take a q-tip or cotton swap and dip it in rubbing alcohol. You take that and rub it softly over the clay. It grabs a few bits of dirt out and it smooths out finger prints.

They are actually really simple. I have a tutorial poll going on right now in my journal and donuts is an option. I should have added hot cakes. Well I'll do one eventually. So be on the look out for the tutorials. ^_^

Yes it is a NES controller. I made it because I threw my younger sister a Super Mario Sweet 16. Photos from that can be seen here: [link]

So cute! What do you use to glaze with?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chat-noir In reply to aunjuli [2006-11-06 19:17:30 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much. I use a combination of things. I use the sculpey glaze, acrylic gloss medium, or even floor varnish.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aunjuli In reply to chat-noir [2006-11-08 17:28:56 +0000 UTC]

Ah.. I've tried the sculpey glaze... it seems like you have to get a nice balance that way you don't put it on too thin or too thick. How do the other two compare to the glaze?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chat-noir In reply to aunjuli [2006-11-08 19:56:08 +0000 UTC]

Well the sculpey glazes are really think and gloopy. Consistency is really the big difference between the three.

The floor varnish is very thin and not at all think like the sculpey glaze. But it usually takes two coats to make items really shine and strong. After all that stuff is meant to be walked on. So it's good for durability. Plus buy a little can of it and you can varnish all sorts of stuff.

Acrylic gloss look like a white thin paste. I use that to highlight small details like in tiny food items where only part of it is shiny. Either way all the items have a nice shine when you're done.
