Photoshop kept dying on me. So I am going to try and do the breakfast one tomorrow. I think I am done with photoshop for today. I didn't think this would take so much time and be so huge.

So here is my sushi cane tutorial. I was really looking forward to making this one. ^_^

Enjoy. If you make something with this please link back here so more people can learn how.

I do not suggest or recommend making polymer clay plugs for your ears. Polymer clay is not "clay" but a form or porous plastic. Meaning, your ears might grow into them! There haven't not been many cases but don't risk your ears!

i have some questions.
1. how do you get the little metal piece in so you can attatch it to jewlery?

2. is the equipment expensive?

3. do you bake the clay or let it dry?

love the art!!!!

this tutorial is great. i was just wondering, do you then have to bake the clay in the oven after making the cane? do you cut it up into beads first before you do that? (i know nothing about clay, im just trying to learn now )

I made some.. well a butt load of them {300 to be exact..}
they aren't exactly like the tuts i have a more green base for my nori and i made them into earings..
I was wondering i am going to sale them for money {mainly food money.} do i have to have a little post near them saying that this is a variation of this tut or something else or nothing at all?
i honestly haven't sold things before so i was just wondering how the process goes..

Great tutorial. Unfortunately for me, the effect wasn't as great when baked - the translucent sculpey is MUCH more translucent baked than when it's still soft. It's almost see through and much too dark looking now. I'll try again with a translucent/white mix.

This is awesome... I made a sushi cane yesterday and put some of them on a board made out of clay with "wasabi", "ginger" and some "chopsticks". It looks really cool!

I dont know if you saw this, but under the discription it says: "I do not suggest or recommend making polymer clay plugs for your ears. Polymer clay is not "clay" but a form or porous plastic. Meaning, your ears might grow into them! There haven't not been many cases but don't risk your ears!"

Its a cool idea, but you might want to listen to her warning...

trixiness In reply to ??? [2009-07-09 00:03:51 +0000 UTC]

Awesome tutorial! I have a question...Dose it get hard on its own, or do you have to bake it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Onyx-Jade In reply to trixiness [2009-07-20 19:10:52 +0000 UTC]

Usually you have to bake your clay/fimo. It depends on what kind of clay you buy though, some dry up on their own- but the end result is neater if it's baked.

WORD TO THE WISE!

A little really goes a long way! I only used about a 1/4 of a one ounce bar of black, white and translucent and just a TINY bit of green and orange and it made 41 charms!

I tried it out myself. It yielded terrific sushi! However, when I baked them, the transparent clay turned brown. Is there a way to fix this?

I seen this done when I worked at a hard candy (old people type, with the tiny strawberries and watermelons pictured inside) factory. I never thought to do it with clay. And this turned out perfect. Gives me ideas for other types of canes and beads. (gonna make skulls because I'm hardcore... )

Great job with the tutorial.
