Description
This is reduced 9 times from the original 7200x10800px size. Its a pain to create images so large. There are a few more details and errors that only show up at the actual pixel size. This is the largest image I have created yet.Related content

Oh God... I'm jealous ^^"
I thought that I am good in drawing dragnos, but now I know that without pretty average skills in coloring your works in some computer programs you are nothing. Traditional art is now a days something that isn't beautiful. It is just a practice. I don't know if I will be ever able to color my own works in photoshop or any other program.
I wish you to have a time for improving your talents

Thank you very much, and if it makes you feel anybody I can't really draw. I have to estimate what I want and trace selections to get the lines. Basicly what I do is the equivalent to using french curves.

But you have some skills. Even if I can draw I still can't draw as good arts as you are doing here ^^"
You should be proud of what you have : )

7200x10800 ??? What computer do you have? I have a PIV with a Radeon 9600 Pro and 1 Gb dual channel DDRAM and it still nearly hangs when I try to work on images that size.
Why don't you make a series of these, one for every constellation?

cheneymac In reply to illusions667 [2004-10-14 21:52:13 +0000 UTC]
The computer:
CPU: dual 2.4ghz Xeon with hyperthreading
mobo: SuperMicro X5DA8 [link]
memory: 2x 1gb registered samsung DDR 266mhz
HHD: Primary - 18gb 15000rpm Seagate Cheetah, Secondary - 120gb Western Digital Special Edition (8mb cache)
Vid card: Radeon 9700 Pro (this makes very little difference to Photoshop, except that it does allow two monitors)
OS: A combination of Photoshop, dual cpus, and hyperthreading limits me to Win2k Advanced Server or WinXP Pro. I use WinXP. The buggiest feature of windows is its shell, explorer.exe, so I use Geoshell.
I have a Wacom, but I rarely use it. I recently discovered magical drawing tools called 'french curves', so I will probably be using my wacom more when I get home.
The greatest problem when working large is the issue of data. When you double the dimensions of an image the amount of pixels is 4x greater than before, so at an average the image will be about 4.5x larger file size. If you are working with complex textures and multiple layers the problem is multiplied. A complex texture requires photoshop to map each pixel into a layer, and each channel multiplies this process. The last image I finished on my happy machine at home last year was a post for my brother called 23. This image was only 9000x6000px, but it was my heaviest image yet from the perspective of data. This image was entirely texture intensive. It only contained about 20 layers, while on other images I average around 500, but each layer contained textures that filled nearly the entire volume of the image. The result is that the image was 2gb when saved as a PSD, but over 40gb when opened into scratch disk. It was a real pain that exceeded the abilities of my poor little computer.

A 15000 rpm hard disk? Do you feel the difference with a 7200 rpm disk?
Your PC makes me jealous. It must have cost a small fortune, no?!

When I built it two years ago it cost me around $3700, but much of that is because the harddrives, CPUs, and GPU are water cooled. I most definately notice a huge difference with the faster harddrive, but SCSI hard disks are expensive. I choose wisely in buying a motherboard with a built-in dual channel SCSI controller. If you could afford 4 or 5 more similar SCSI drives my system would be much faster for Photoshop.

this pic is really great!!!
the lines are quite clean from what i can see and the uses of simple lines and shapes still made the image really intricate.
congrats dude, i love it!!

Great design, colouring, and shading; I like the gold 'wire' where the dragons are connected; it seems to jump out particularly well. The balance is a little offset, but that could be either a plus or minus.

Immortus mentioned he saw this when he was hanging out with you. Here was my reply to him:
Really? If you see that magazine again could you do me a huge favor? Could you buy and send it to me. I would really appreciate it a whole lot. I will gladly have my wife send you a money order via snail mail to repay the expenses. It would mean so much to me. I have heard that I have been published, but I have not seen the magazine release.
If you see this magazine please buy it for me. I would love to see it. I would completely hook you up for the costs of purchase and shipping.

I used to think DD picks were boring, and cared more for the Top Favs. But now that +ekud is picking indy art works, and the anime army has flooded DA, I have to thank God for the existence of this section! Another wonderful choice: lovely rendition and colours. It reminds me of alchemist books... mixed up with tribal iconografies. Very imaginative!
