Description
full view, obviouslypart one of my gimp tutorial IS *FINALLY* UPDATED : D
part two will be updated soon, look for it tonight or tomorrow~!
It's easier to understand now, as well as less text-wall-ish. Also, more visually appealing, YAY(the old image was, well... old...).
I've also added a different method of lineart, for you tablet users ;D
Personally, I used a bit of both methods to make those lines. Buuut anyway, hope you guys like the improvement. Let me know if you want a link to the old tutorial here, which is shorter but a little obscure, ha.
--------
Please, READ IT! I cannot stress how much I would've known sooner than now if I'd actually READ the tutorials rather than stared at the images briefly. My content isn't long, and it's pretty easy to understand, so please READ it. And I'm not saying this for my benefit, cause it doesn't affect me if you read it or not, but you'll learn quicker if you take 3 minutes of your time to actually read the content. Thanks.
What To Do If You Accidentally Click Out of the Path Tool and Your Lines Disappear (Credit to ~Kay-Kayz . Thanks!)

Thanks so much for uploading this, I had no idea how to do a lineart, until now. The way you described and showed this made it very easy to figure out what to do. Seeing.. as I am still an amatuer gimp'er, I finally learned how to do a line-art. Thanks!!!

Layers can help for coloring. If you draw a lineart of a dragon, for example, and do a layer for shading, and you didn't like it, you can delete that layer without harming your original image ^^
I hope that helped

Very cool. That hold shift thing is very handy.
Hm, I had an option called "polygonal", and some other stuff, but it's dissappeared. It was in the white box under the "Path" tab, and over little buttons like "paint along path". Any idea how to get those options back?

kk So what you do is:
In the tab that is at the very bottom of your tool optoins menu, usually where tool status is, there should be a tiny little arrow in a box near the name of the tool you're working with.
click on the tiny arrow, and go down to the "add tab" option.
Once thats done, just click the "paths" option
And now, if you acidently click on something else while working with paths, just go to that tab, click on the eye thing(like the vision button for multiple layers)and it should show back up, as a highlighted kinda line. you can always just edit it if you messed uptoo!
Sorry that was long, and if there was something you didn't understand, just ask. And if you share this with anyone, credit me please Happy to help!

OMG Thank you so much. Gimp's been my main tool of trade but up until now I've just been drawing and erasing everything in. Using layers makes things easier and a lot better looking. Also thanks for teaching me too use the path tool I was at a loss for how to use it. Thanks for making my art way better.
~Peace out~

Can you help me with a little problem im having? Im doing everything you've said to do and everytime i've finished using the path tool everything just DISAPPEARS!!!
Like i'll spend so much time on it then i dont know if i accidently clicked something but when i go to stroke it it just disappears and then i have to start all over again, (this has happened like 5 times and i dont think its the layer) and then i get really frusterated, then i say SCREW THIS! and turn off the computer!
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!!
sorry.

thanks. that will help me a lot do you have a graphic tablet? If yes, do you always use it when you work with gimp? is it a good purchase?

I do now, but I didn't when I made this tutorial.
I'm going to update soon with another method for tablet users, and keep this one.
I think it is a good purchase, even the cheaper 100$ ones like mine work really well. It helps soo much with digital art once you get the hang of it!
