Description Stamp by ~ChikitaWolf
Background from Google

I find nothing amusing whatsoever about that horrible event. I can understand people'll joke about it and most don't mean harm necessarily; but lately, I've noticed the joking has gone overboard to the extent that people will call it amusing [and believe it].

What the Hell is so amusing about that event? About all the people who died? About all the destruction? About the suffering that still occurs today because of it?

I just don't understand.

To those of you who literally, and I mean literally, think 9/11 is AMUSING, I think you need to take a trip on Youtube and see the news reports of 9/11, or look up "9 11" on Google images. Perhaps even check up on this site as well-> [link]

If you think people jumping out of the twin towers because they had nowhere to go, the firefighters who were killed upon entering to attempt to save those in the towers, and all the other lives that were lost tragically is amusing, I think you need your head checked, IMHO.

Because that's just sick.

//end rant

Edit: There will be trolls on this. It would probably be better just to ignore them...Unless you have a funny comeback comment >w> *reading those in amusement*

Edit2: I must say, I never expected someone to get POed by me giving my opinion on this subject. If you feel that I need to "pull the stick out of my ass" and "GTFO the internet" for "not accepting other people's opinions", please take a look at your own advice.

Edit3: Thank you for all the favs and views! Feel free to check out my other stamps as well ;3

Edit4: 2nd page for 8 hours? Awesome xD Thanks again!

Edit5: Gotta love dem edits. Ahem. Anyway! I came home to find 100 comments. I can't reply to them all D: So, yeah. If I don't reply, I apologize, but I really am reading all of your comments. And, on a side note; yes, I understand people have dark humour and other opinions. But ya know, this is mine. I believe that there's a boundary that ought not be crossed when it comes to joking around about tragedy [and then believing the actual event is amusing]. . My opinion. No need to get your panties in a bunch ;3

Edit6: Just to get this out there, I'm not going to throw a which tragedy is worse pity party comparison. Tragedy is tragedy. And I'm talking about 9/11 in this stamp, not Japan. If you want to see something for the tragedy of Japan, do look up a stamp for that. And please, people, I realize people die everyday. But that doesn't make 9/11 any less horrible, imo. Whenever I get a comment throwing out statistics about how many people die per day I do this -> . Please stay on the subject of the stamp. Thanks ahead of time for understanding~! :3

Edit7: Here we go~! For those who are ranting about other tragedies like Japan not getting attention and not being funny either -> [link] Enjoy :3

Edit8: Please read through comments before making your own... it's beginning to get rather repetitive ^^"
And honestly, I don't mind hearing other's opinions. I like to try and understand a view from another person's point of view. It'd just be nice if it could pertain to the actual subject of this stamp and not throw my words out of context... because the rash assumptions are beginning to get tiresome.
Anyway, I think this'll be the last edit I make. On a side note, if you'd like an earlier comment you made hidden due to excessive replies (or the like), just note me and I'll hide it for you. No problem~ ^^
*If there are any other edits on this (like to my original argument or to former edits), I'll put them in brackets

I find trolls relatively amusing o3o
However, this person was serious. There /are/ people that think death and destruction (in reality) is amusing.

Um, I have never even HEARD of people that have stated that, EVER. You seriously must have heard (or seen)a person that was WAY joking or just straight out lying.

Well, you see, just because you haven't met a person like the one I did does not mean they do not exist But it appears as if your mind is already made up that I met a troll. Oh well. c:

1st of all, I am NOT a 'troll' (sometimes) and this is not a time of me teasing people. Second of all true I have never MET a person that said that but I've also never SEEN OR HEARD a person that has said that (this is coming from a person that knows a lot about the news).

1st of all, when did I ever call you a troll? c:
2nd of all, so? That doesn't mean it didn't happen. You can't be everywhere to see or hear everything, ya know. That's how people get different experiences - because they come across different things.

with all due respect some people find the titanic amusing; i think it has more to do with timing, because it was relatively recently it's a more offensive to alot of people, you probably mean well but people will always try and turn tragedy into comedy. people were tortured in the middles ages, and often people just laugh it all off, because they weren't affected by what happened, and they can't really relate to it. now i will admit that you'll always find people who push it too far regardless, in which case a stamp, isn't going to change their minds, often people like this can not be convinced otherwise, and it's best to just ignore, since they often don't get why they're being so offensive.

you probably mean well, but i get the feeling you're more annoyed because of the timing of the events rather than the tragedy; now there are events that you shouldn't make fun of period, but this is rare, and only the most horrific incidents in history are spared, from some form of satire or parody; which this while tragic doesn't really come under, despite the tragic loss of life; to put this in perspective; ww1 was made fun of despite the large loss of life; whereas the holocaust to my knowledge has not been touched, this is the level of horror, something often has to reach, in order for it to be spared from some kind of humor.

but i digress in response to your comments you are free to give your opinion, but just be aware that people have the right to argue against that opinion, and bring up their own views this does not make them 'trolls' but people exercising their right to say what they want, as you have done.

on a more positive note, i like your icon, and your name; and think some of your work looks interesting; apologies for wasting your time, since I've probably not changed your opinion, still have a nice day!

ChikitaWolf In reply to blacklolaroses [2012-04-22 16:03:06 +0000 UTC]

It's kinda odd, but everyone tells me a stamp isn't going to change anyone's opinions. Yet I always have people commenting that it has on nearly every controversial stamp I've made

I'm not quite sure by what you mean with "timing" and whatnot, so I apologize if my response is beating the bush. The thing that annoys me, as I believe I've mentioned, is that people literally find the way people died and whatnot amusing. I don't see anything amusing about 50 people jumping out of a collapsing building because they know they're not gonna survive. Or seeing the buildings themselves collapsing on top of however many firefighters went in there to save the people trapped inside. It's absolutely horrible and not something to laugh out.

Now, with that said, there /is/ going to be some kind of comedic relief in tragic situations. I already realize this, but that is not what I was referring to with this stamp.

And the whole point of making these stamps is so I can hear what others have to say |D Because jeebus, I sure as Hell don't get it, haha.

Thank you very much!

blacklolaroses In reply to ChikitaWolf [2012-04-22 16:22:29 +0000 UTC]

exceptions to every rule, but i feel sorry for anyone who's opinion is changed by a stamp, just because it says something different.

OH! okay i get what you mean; i thought you were angry because people were poking fun at it; in which case most people get annoyed at that because the event happened relatively recently; that's what i mean by 'timing'.

well if you do generally find the death of someone, who has died funny; you are probably a psychopath to some extent, it depends on a number of things, like how they died, how long ago it was, and wherever they really existed (violent cartoons ftw).

thanks for not freaking out about me questioning you, like some people online

It wouldn't have to be necessarily changed. Our opinions are challenged and tweaked every day. That's what helps us grow o3o
If you can't back up your opinion or your morals go against it, it's no surprise if you tweak or change that opinion.

Haha, yeah |D

LOL, it's all good |D I get too many people freakin' out on me, so when I find someone who's up for having civil conversation, I'm all on it, haha!

We've been doing a segment on this for History and some people were cracking jokes. It made me sick. I told a few of my friends off. I cannot believe some of these people. Today we watched a very emotional and deep documentary/movie on it...
Lots of the people that made fun of it were crying.
And to think people have the gall to make T-Shirts celebrating it! It's completly unbelievable and rather insulting.

When I see people raging about lighthearted 9/11 references on TV or on the Internet, I think of the Westboro Baptist Church walking around with signs that say "Thank God for 9/11" and picketing 9/11 memorials, and then I can't help but think "Those people do WAY more offensive things than the TV shows and Internet users, but you do nothing about them. Get your priorities straight".

More important things should be given more attention.

How could people think that this was funny. My granddad was on an airplane on that day when it happened. My mom had a panic attack until she found out that he was already off. That day was terrible, just terrible. my school did something for 9 11 on the news, I was on the camera and crying, someone had to take my place until I calmed down. God bless all victims

9/11 terrified the world. Nobody wants to believe it could happen again, but everyone knows that it could someday. So we laugh. We joke. We pull a blanket over our heads and giggle at the bogeyman. It makes us feel safe. The knowledge that the jokes are out there is out crutches and splits while we wait to heal.

How could anyone make a joke about this? I don't believe the official story about 9/11 but I still take the damage and harm caused to people's lives seriously. Just because the media "reminds" people every year about what happened, that doesn't mean it becomes less significant. Disaster is disaster and people need to get humbled and leave their crude jokes to themselves...
So thank you for putting this out there. I am just very perturbed that people would be doing that, how weird. Plus, of course American media would focus more on it because it's an American disaster, unlike Japan. It's just how it is. (P.S. the media sucks)

I don't find it funny. But I hate the fact Americans shove it down our throats and make us remember it. We're living needlessly in the past in my opinion.

People forcing me to care so much just lead to me thinking "Fuck it, I don't care for 9/11".

Children in Africa and such die needlessly every day. We do nothing for them, it's not a shock anymore. But 9/11 happened in the middle of New York, so more people were shocked. But it is over.

I have read the description. But really? How can we move into the future if we stay in the past? We have deadly crisis's here and now! We should stop focusing about 9/11, stop making memorials costing hundreds of dollars and use that money to save more lives. They could have used the space for 9/11 to make something more productive.

Like a memorial hospital. That would have been better for my opinion.

Not forcing anyone to care. Just feel as if thinking it's funny is crazy.

And I do agree. But at the same time it's nice to not forget those who were lost. Some families appreciate the yearly thing, some don't.
