Kinda goes along with my “How is the rape of a fifteen year old boy ‘kawaii’?” rant stamp.
Whenever I actually find a hetero pairing (which has become less and less common these days) in the DGM fandom… half the time it’s Lenalee being paired with multiple men in ONE FanFiction and being portrayed as a whore. Or a stripper.
And not for plot-development. Or theme. Or lesson. Or whatever.
Only for fan service.
A friend of mine ~SorasGirl88 made a piece of artwork a while back voicing her own irritation towards Lenalee being whored.
I agreed—of course. I just never realized just HOW MUCH Lenalee is portrayed as a whore in the FanFictions. And especially in the DGM fan art these days.
And once again, FF.net burned my eyes. But it wasn’t just FF.net. It was also here on dA.
Lenalee’s a girl. She’s a part of an anime fandom. It’s only natural for drawings of her doing fan service to pop up. I can understand some people like that stuff.
But to pair her up with multiple men at once? And to detail scenes of her being in bed with multiple men at once or multiple men in a day?
That’s just ridiculous.
And incredibly OOC. Then again, most of the ways people have recently been portraying her is OOC.
It bothers me, as I’m sure you’ve figured out by now. I understand people have their fetishes—but if you’re going to write a story with Lenalee like that, please mention it in your summary. Please. And admit it’s OOC.
AND IT IS OOC.
I won’t even get into her sister-complex, over-protective brother who wouldn’t hesitate in castrating the entire DGM cast of men if something like this was going on with Lenalee. Talk about him sicking his robots on people. Good Lord.
And it’s not just in the D.Gray-Man fandoms. I’ve noticed more and more female characters of books series, anime series, TV series—you name it—becoming whored.
I’m saying this is a fan of the things I enjoy reading. This isn’t a discussion of reality vs fiction.
This is a fan being disturbed by how people have been ruining characters as of late.
Where’s the pride for keeping characters IN-CHARACTER? If you want a bunch of characters being whored and f*cked, make your own characters, dang it. I’m sick and tired of seeing so much OOC crap.
That’s my opinion though.
On a more wide note—if you’re writing a FanFiction, please warn us beforehand that you’re going to whore a character for nothing more than fan service.
Especially Lenalee Lee.
Who could totally kick any DGM guy’s @$$ if she wanted to.

I LOOOVE Lenalee (am I the first of your commenters to actually admit they love Lenalee AND the guys? xD) and I absolutely dislike people portraying her any less than she is. She's a very strong girl, she's a great character, not useless like so many shounen female leads. Lenalee shares a lot with Balsa (Seirei no Moribito), who kicks a$$ whenever she wants to. Balsa is one of my favourite characters because she's so strong and mature, yet she's very friendly. But whereas Balsa is an adult, Lenalee isn't. And it's very normal for a girl growing into adulthood to have her problems. I dare anyone who says Lenalee is a whiny crybaby to take her place. I dare you not to cry when you see your best friends getting beaten 'till near death without you being able to do anything because your legs won't work with you. I dare you not to cry when your best friend leaves you behind, without knowing if you'll ever see him again, without knowing if you'll ever be able to laugh together again. I dare you not to cry when you heard that all your friends died because of an Akuma... Seriously. I dare you.
And who was the first one to beat a Level 3 whereas the other ones had major trouble with it? Yes, who?
Besides that though, Lenalee is a real lady, and I'm pretty sure she's a one-man-girl. She'd be faithful in her relationship, just as her man will (fear of Komui's wrath).

I don't think they'd actually sneak into bed together, specially Kanda and Allen. And Lavi.

Dude, seriously, I WORSHIP your comment! I mean, I've thought the same thing for a long time but would have never be able to put it down as good as you! Thankyou! I mean, seriously, your comment is an INSTANT-win in an argument involving Lenalee.
(And if you ask me, Komui is the reason why Allen didn't kiss Lenalee before leaving her, he was afraid that Komui would find out (brother instincts, dude), and hunt him down and...come to think of it, I don't wanna know what he'd do to Allen. O_O Though he's KOMUI, he'd find out one way or another.

I just get a bit angry because of all the (often) irrational hatred towards Lenalee (and other girls who show interest in a male character). "She is whiny" is not good enough of a reason for me, because, as stated in my first comment, she had all the reason to cry and whine. "She's whiny without a reason", would be much better, and I would accept that. I don't like whiny character who whine all the time when they don't need to whine. I'm glad I finally got rant this thought on dA. XD
Hahah, yes, that's a very good reason. Komui would find out... He finds out everything that happensto Lenalee... he's a siscon after all. Another reason is that Allen is just (desparate to be) a gentleman. Probably didn't want to complicated things either... He's struggling with his inner demons, if he also had to struggle with his feelings... he would probably break. XD He should clear his head first, and then he'll see if he has feelings for Lenalee that go further than friendship. : >

What I also find irrational is showing hatred/dislike towards a series because your OTP is't going to happen. O_o That shouldn't be the only reason to like a series, right?

I know right?! Though like you said, Lenalee has some damn good reasons to whine/cry/whatever. (I mean, if I was in her place, I would totally be broken. There's no way I could survive what she's been though.)
And yeah, when I think about it I think it may have only made things worse for Lenalee if Allen did kiss her. O_o Not sure how, but I still think that. And he'd better fix things with Lenalee once he's cleared his head, or I shall be pissed. (At the author)

Unless they are totally dissing a character (like Lenalee), then you should just show them how stupid they are or something. XD I just don't like DGM at the moment cause the recent chapters SUCK, I mean, barely any of the original characters are shown anymore and the ones that are shown are getting ruined. (Tyki...please cut your hair and bring your tux/hat back!!) I just hope the author (can't remember her name) actually had this whole thing planned out and isn't just making stuff up as she goes along.

Some of them can be very annoying, true... I'm just not too happy with fans ruining the story and characters that I love so much. =/ I'd like it if everyone would keep the canon a bit more in mind... I don't mind AU's, but at least keep the characters in their worth then...
Oh, really? I still like D.Gray-man quite a lot... and I look forward to every chapter that gets released. (Stop getting sick, Hoshino... D:) Though, I do agree that the new Tyki isn't as pleasing as the old one.
I think she has most planned out though. I think that because some elements that appear in newer chapters have been mentioned in chapters much earlier...

You know, I wonder how many fans/bashers have actually READ the manga? Cause judging by some of the stuff I've seen, I doubt it.
And when I think about it, isn't Cross and mabey a character that no one cares about MAY be the only ones who have actually died. I know the human-akuma-hybrid characters died, or are still alive, I don't know. The chapter where they got all mutated and stuff confused me and I don't really care about any of them. And when I say "confused" I mean nothing in that chapter made sense to me, lol.
Anyway, judging how most of the characters have just disappeared and not actually died (cause I refuse to believe that Cross is dead, Lavi and Bookman are still alive, I think, just being tortured, Kanda and what's-his-face are still hiding in the Ark, and Road will most likely be recarnated soon enough), I don't think that many characters are gonna be dead by the end.
As for relationships; I just want Allen and Lenalee to be together, and that's about it. Though I do find it funny how Road has a crush on Allen and yet she never seems to noticed Lenalee, you'd think she'd be jealous or something.
And I did not know that Hoshino's been getting sick, that would explain a lot (I hope she gets better, it sucks being sick).
Though I'm not getting my hopes up that it's been all planned out. Cause lately I've (and many other people) have been and are being forced to watch one of my favorite book series get butchered cause the author didn't just end it where it should have ended and has been just making up random crap as he's goes along. I mean, he's ruined almost every character, make the main boy character leave the girl (who is the main main character), JUST to go for her darn clone. And in almost every book at came after the 4th one makes no sense cause he keeps bringing up something that seems like it's gonna be really important in the plot, and then -POOF- it completely vanishes from existence 5 chapters later. Like WTF dude? (In case you wondering, I'm talking about the Maximum Ride series, boy is that thing a wreck.)
Anyway, yeah, that's why I think DGM is doomed. I just hope I'm wrong.

The third exorcists are still alive, if that's what you mean... after all, they infiltrated when Tyki and Road went to get Allen.
I refuse to believe Cross is death either, Lavi and Bookman are deff alive, Lavi however deffinitally needs some cure. Kanda is in Mater together with Alma, but Alma is probably dead by now as you see both his and her soul walk away.
Road will be back soon... she's not the kind of girl to suddenly die.

I'm still kind of reluctant to say she 'screwed them up'. I quite love how D.Gray-man is faring now. Of course I would have loved it if everything was still quiet and good, but that's not D.Gray-man. If all is good in the D.Gray-universe, something is most deffinitally wrong.

Well, I think that at the moment the story line doesn't allow Hoshino to branch out too much. It was Allen who was trapped, so she had to fix that first... He's the main character, so he's important. If she had first focused on Lavi, people would have complained anyways... saying how she let Allen "rot" in his cell. But seeing how Allen is "safe" now (Gosh, love the end of chapter 206. I squee'd) I wouldn't be surprised if she went back to the rest of the order... Of course I can't put a chapter on that.

Yeah, that I understand. But wasn't she able to do something like that in the earlier chapters while keeping the other characters (Allen's partners and such) also in the storyline?
That's just a opinion. It's been two years sense I started reading and caught up with DGM and started to have to read the chapters as they came out. I need to re-read it again just for the heck of it, lol. Though I'll most likely just end up stopping after the "Song of the 14th" part. Then skip to the two "zombie" apocalypse chapters.

Well, she did... In a way. But this "arc" (Awakening of the 14th) and the predecent arc (Second Exorcists) were all about just Kanda and Allen. And I think she filled her chapters really well. The others did make a short appearance... and I think Hoshino let Lenalee take the stage because in the Order, she's the most important person to Allen.
Ahah. I'm up to date since last fall. And I'm now rereading the volumes I have (1-20). I got 20 last month, and I wanted to reread before reading 20. x3 Not going to read the Invasion Arc?

Exactly. And not only is her age a bit on the small side, Lenalee is also not the kind of girl to actually "whore" herself out. I think she got more on her mind that finding her husband, and I also don't think that Lenalee is the kind of girl to throw herself at guys. I think that Lenalee's love is one that grows in time and she'll admit to that person she likes them when she's sure she does.

Yeah, when I first started reading/watching DGM, my preference kept switching around, mostly between LaviLena and KanLena, until I finally settled with KanLena as my OTP.

UUuuggghhhh you are so right. I hate it when people whore her out, because she's one of the least likely characters to do something like that! She'd be repulsed if she knew about all these fanfics and pics of her being a whore, when she really isn't.
I also totally agree with how people should make their own characters to satisfy their sick fetishes. It's just that some people who make OC's and who don't like Lenalee keep saying how Lenalee's a whore, and they try to make it seem like their OC is waayyy better and not a whore. Even though they usually are. T.T You have no idea how many OCxcanon fics I've read where like, 3 or more of the male charas fall for the mary sue. T.T It's annoying.
