Description Have you ever had the trouble of using rasps and you accidentally take off too much wood? How about when you use a hand file and it seems like it will take you forever to shave away the wood? Well the solution to your problems is simple:

You make your own Rasp!

Pros:
It's easy to make, it only takes 10 minutes!
It's very cheap to make and will save alot of money
The Aluminium Oxide paper will last a VERY long time
And if it does get worn away what you make is disposable!
Being made of wood it is quite light and easy to handle
It can shave away wood twice as fast as a hand file
And you will do it with half the effort compared to a hand file
It has a much more precise control then using a rasp
You can make a rasp in any shape or form to suit your need

Cons:
It will leave faint scratch marks on your work, go over with sandpaper

This will be very helpful, as well, i destroy all sandpaper i come in contact with.
I used 8 pieces of heavy duty canvas sandpaper @ 60 today alone. Greenheart and C4 structural wood is a pain in the // hands.

...

I feel like an idiot. I did something similar to this back in 2004, except I used spray adhesive to place a large sheet onto a small workbench. Then I moved the wood over the bench to shape it into what I desired. Worked great on my Ukuleles and other instruments...

BUT A PORTALBLE ONE WOULD HAVE WORKED BETTER.

Gah I do everything backwards.

That's why you're the professional

wow lol, you sacrificed a small work bench to turn it into a file? that does sound very hilarious XD, I mean eventually the abrasive paper will be worn out lol, hence the use of cheap portables ones making them disposable

Well it was a very large surface, I used it for filing but also to help me flatten gourds for lutes. I would cut the gourd roughly in half and then sand it on the flat surface to even it out. Then go over it again with a sandpaper. The real reason I used it though was to file the sides of the necks because I usually ran them through the body (acoustics me damned!) just another type of craft I suppose xD

When the abrasive paper wore out I just heated the adhesive, scraped it off and put some new stuff on it
