Description Drawing Tip: Here's a good one, and one you won't often see, from my book, "Figure It Out: Essential Poses." It shows how to a pose with the arms crossed in front of the body. This one confuses many artists, but it's much easier if you draw it in order. I hope you find it useful!

Hmm... I usually draw the arms both at once, and I think I got somewhat good at it, but have found that I tend to want toΒ draw it the same way each time (so I have to remember to draw it slightly differently in different pictures). I can't remember now what exact order I draw the crossed arms in or exactly how I get it to look right (...maybe I start with a sketch of the general box-like look, and then draw the upper arms and then cross the lower ones?). But drawing the arms one at a time might help with varying the pose, since I can see it giving a better idea of what you're doing.

I was looking at theΒ Amazon page forΒ that book just recently, so that's interesting. I'd found out my library has it, so I thought I'd check it out sometime to see whether or not I'd like to buy it.
