not entirely satisfied with this photo.... will try again latersiberian iris- the flowers are close to this color (maybe more to the blue-purple side)- i designed this from some flowers growing in my garden
purple heart, yellow heart (both thanks to ~FrogPond ) and black walnut for the foliage. about 10" (25 cm) x 6" (15 cm)
took about 7 hours not counting the design and prep work- natural wood colors

your work is amazing. i love the new egg. you do so many different things. how did you learn to do intarsia? on your profile you say it's like a puzzle then glued down on thin plywood. i must do it backwards. i glue it together then trace it onto the backing, cut it out, then glue them together. if i don't do it that way i can not get it to match. am i doing something wrong? thanks, pjay

your joins look good and tight (mine aren't always that close and I do a lot of sanding on the edges) - I am forever tinkering with the way i do stuff (maybe I should try your method!)- I think whatever method works for you is the one to go with so, no you aren't doing it wrong
