Description
Inspired by good ol' Macross (Robotech), I always thought the firing sequence of the SDF taking out some Zentraedi warships from Earth's surface was *amazing*, this piece is heavily inspired by that idea.

The base of the image is pretty simple; although I don't have a well-developed/-practiced system for rendering planets from outer space, it's not something that comes up a lot in the work I do so it's definitely a weakness that I have to work on more. I do like the little concentric circles of clouds rippling away from the blast as it shoots through the atmosphere, not the best but I think it helps carry the idea across.

One advantage of dealing with a simple composition is that it buys you time to try to fix and address all the shortcomings you see come up while you're laying in the rough shapes. There's a lot of stuff that I still wish I addressed better but enough of the faults are, ah, hidden...I think... hopefully... well maybe not.... Still was fun to work on.
