WARNING: Spoilers for Gravity Falls season 2 episode 11.
A little something I've been working on for the last few days.
After the most recent episode, "Not What He Seems," I've seen a lot of fan theories and comics/fics that, after Mabel's refusal to turn off Stan's machine, Dipper will no longer trust her, feeling betrayed. I really hope this doesn't become the case.
First off, Dipper's not that dumb. Given that he knows the outcome of Stan's actions and his motivations for doing so, I doubt he'd be mad at Mabel afterwards. Second, with as much as he knows and loves his sister, he'd know that she wouldn't mean to "betray" him. He knows her actions come from her heart and that's something really hard to be mad at someone for. If he does end up mad and distrustful of her, I feel that would be grossly out of character. But, hey, that's just my interpretation.

Yep, definitely agree with this comic. It would have made no sense if Dipper had turned his back on Mabel come Tale of Two Stans. I'm glad all those theories about Dipper turning his back on Mabel turned out to be wrong. Admittedly, they do seem to be hinting that Dipper and Mabel are headed for a falling out at some point in the future, but that's yet to come. I'm glad that they clearly showed in Two Stans that Dipper holds no harsh feelings towards Mabel for her actions, especially considering she made the right choice. Dipper would never have fallen out with his twin sister/best friend for making the right decision. Heck, even if what she did had turned out to be the wrong choice, I sincerely doubt even in that situation that Dipper would stay mad at her for long. So yeah, very much glad that the "Dipper angst" theories proved to be wrong. Things didn't turn out like in this comic either (especially the Stan hug), but it's still a lot closer to the truth, and to Dipper's true personality, than the "angst" theories ever were. Love the comic by the way, I'm a big fan of adorable fan art of Dipper and Mabel's relationship, they're definitely my favourite brother/sister pair in all of fictiondom.

I'm not sure about your theory, dude. I honestly think that after all the things Dipper has put up for Mabel, this one might completely shatter him. And it doesn't help that Alex said in an interview about Dipper isolating himself from his family...

I don't know if this is a "theory." More like a "what I hope will happen."
I just don't see why people think Dipper will turn his back on everyone given the end results of the last episode: They didn't die and Gravity Falls wasn't destroyed. They found out that Stan's actions were for a good cause. And they found the Author. You know, the guy Dipper has spent the last season and a half looking for?
I take Alex's word with a grain of salt. He sometimes gives vague or misleading hints to keep people guessing.
Of course right now this is just speculation. Either theory could be right. Or neither. Maybe even both, if that is somehow possible.Β Β

Yeah, I thought so, too. I bet that after Stan met up with his brother for a long time, Dipper would start calling out on everyone, especially Mabel for not turning off the portal and listening to Stan.

Hmm. . .I don't know. Given Dipper's emotional state, the cracked photo at the end; I'd say the hints are pretty strong that the twins are headed for some kind of falling out.
It may not be immediate. Dipper might be initially forgiving and just try to hide how he feels, but I think it eventually will happen. That being said I would be surprised if the "break up" lasted any longer then one or two episodes. Those are probably going to be the episodes that are mostly to have a hypothetical "Evil Dipper", before Mabel saves him with the power sisterly love, which may or may not involve a heroic sacrifice.Β

Most people will hope for this ending because what human wouldn't want the happiest ending!? But if Alex is smart he will make people jump out of there seats by creating dark dipper, why because it adds more drama and a better heart pounding episode all together! What would you rather watch dipper just find out all the secrets like that! It would be a terrible summer ending! But if you cause dipper to go evil it would add more story for the people to watch and savoir!

And there was also the thing Stan said to the twins in the beginning of the episode, it was after the fireworks scene, something like "Man it is not normal for you two to get along so well" or something like that, so I thought that was a bit of indication for what would happen to the twins' relationship in the future, so I kinda believe it as well, but hey I could be wrong...

1. If she had closed the portal, then they NEVER would have found THE AUTHOR, who they've been searching for since episode 1.
2. He's put up with a lot of nonsense from her throughout the series. And I mean A LOT.
3. I think at that point, considering the whole doomsday countdown and everything, I think he's just glad that they're both alive.
