Words Below:
It was movie night at Magic Academy. Movie night was a tradition at Magic Academy, an event many students eagerly anticipated. All current students were admitted free. Many of them showed up. Some came with their parents and some came alone.
The movie was about a young witch who had to overcome various problems in order to attend the big Halloween dance. It was quite popular among the magical community. A movie there was not like a movie in the non magical world. When the movie started, the credits appeared. Once the credits were over, students, parents, and even teachers literally stepped onto the screen and interacted with the fictional characters.
Some of the students actually wanted to be the characters. This particular movie was not designed for such things. It was more difficult to do, especially for those students who had not seen the movie before, and the teachers wanted movie night for everyone. This did not stop some students from pretending to be a character in the movie anyway.
One of those students was Raleigh. He had seen the movie before and he loved it. He wanted to be a guy who danced with the witch in the end. He was very popular which is why all the girls wanted to dance with him and why he wanted to be him.
Raleigh decided to use a swapping spell. He had cast it successfully many times with all kinds of people. Although he had never tried a swapping spell with a fictional character, he didn't expect it to be that much different. He prepared the spell ahead of time, found the character he wanted to be, and then released the spell.
At that moment, the witch and central character walked directly between them. Raleigh did not remember her arriving at the moment. It was due to many people interacting with the characters causing slight changes to the script but he had no way of knowing this. All he knew was he found himself inside the lead female character and she was in his body.
Worse still Raleigh found himself unable to move in any way contrary to what the character would do. Despite all the people, the story was still happening and he, or she, would have to finish the movie before she got a chance to change back. At least she knew what she needed to do. She had to make her own dress, apologize to her friends for wronging them, and dance with the popular guy. All those things would take time.
Raleigh found it embarrassing when other students showed up pretending to be someone in the movie and interacted with her. All they were doing was delaying the required tasks. She just wanted it to be over. She tried to end the conversations quickly but that was not in character. She talked with them until one of them or the other was ready to leave.
The students did not know what happened to Raleigh. Raleigh glanced over at her old body. The fictional character appeared to be enjoying her, or his, freedom. He was clearly taking advantage of the fact that he did not actually have to do anything.
After failing to find a suitable dress Raleigh made her own. Next she apologized to her friends for what she had done. Raleigh was not even in her body when those events occurred but that did not matter. It had to be done.
The worst part was dancing with the popular guy. The one Raleigh wanted to be. Due to the fictional character in his body, no one knew Raleigh was there. She hoped she could keep them from finding out, but she had a feeling they would. Then she would be the laughing stock of the entire school.
The movie ended with a kiss. Raleigh made it short and simple. Even though it was a fictional character, it was still difficult for her but it was done. Then the movie ended. To her horror, his body was the first to walk off the screen.
Raleigh tried to walk off the screen too but discovered she could not. All the other fictional characters were motionless as the students, parents, and teachers stepped off the screen. Raleigh was panicking. What would happen when they turned off the movie? Would she remain a fictional character for the rest of her life, or longer? There was no telling how long a movie would last, especially a magical one.
Her movements were slowing down. If Raleigh was going to do something, it had to be soon. With all her remaining energy, she screamed. The students, parents, and some of the teachers just kept going but other teachers knew a fictional character would not scream like that. One of them created a body that looked just like the lead female character and placed Raleigh inside it.
Raleigh explained her situation to them and they did their best to comfort her. Scolding her for using a spell so foolishly could come later. The main thing was getting her body back. It was clear that the character wanted to remain in the real world but if they gave her real body looking just like her old fictional one, she might be willing to give it back.
It took some time to track him down. Once they caught her they made the offer and he agreed. Raleigh was placed back into his own body. He gave a sigh of relief. It had been quite an experience for him.
The remaining problem was what to do with the fictional character who had entered the real world. Following school policy, they gave her a job as an assistant teacher. That would keep her out of trouble, at least for a few days.
