Description Jenn was still breathing heavily, having out run the giant rad scorpions and pack of fire ants that she had been chased into. The horrible brutality of which the later had dispatched the former was going to give her nightmares for weeks. That the swarm of ants had suddenly turned back when the saw the strange nodules she was hiding under.

An odd buzzing noise was slowly growing, as was the sense of unease that was swelling in her...Β

First, what you need to know: vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/fa…
Those of you, have faced these things know just how nightmarish they are. Though the first encounters are always the most memorable, if not bloody and fatal. The are never alone, they are unaffected by rough terrain, like you are. They are poisons, have a stinger the size of a cavalry sword, and the pleasant disposition of an enraged velociraptor.

By And it is so, so, SO, true.

Ah Cazadors annoying but fun when you have really good gear like a Fatman launcher.

Several mini nukes later you can go forwards. God, when I first met these things I died horribly. And within three seconds. T.T

Personally I never found them fun, I had more fun with the legion and deathclaws

I always freaked out when the cazadors showed up. I'd start panicking as soon as I saw the little red marks that moved far too fast for something so far away, they were the only enemies I always used VATS on because I was too scared to let them get close. Once I got a missile launcher (Annabelle usually) or a Red Glare or even high explosive Anti-Materiel Rifle rounds I would just shoot them with as much explosive power from as far away as possible until they were all dead.

The anti-cazador boost and poison immune heart from Old World Blues was a huge help but even so I used VATS every time or just hosed them with whatever automatic weapon I happened to be carrying at the time.

Lol that seems to be a reasonable approach. My introduction came in the form of a very long mountain gully, you can only go one way, and the entire rout is packed with Cazadors, one nest after another after another. By the end I was down to my light sub-machine gun and praying I had enough ammo to make it out alive. Turns out, the end of the line was at the cliff drop off just above the Great Khans camp. Boy that was a welcome sight. T.T

I remember that place. My introduction to them was during the mission for the Boomers when I went to retrieve their bomber. I was just walking along, shooting the deathclaws from a distance with ED-E when I saw the dots. I didn't give ti much heed though their fast movement at long range was weird to me, then they swarmed me and I started shooting VATS and shooting blind and I survived, only for the poison to kill me moments later. Even since then I had a form of video game PTSD whenever I see them.

Code-Shark In reply to Cryos-R [2018-04-11 08:28:21 +0000 UTC]

Lol that is terrible and oh so funny all at once. I can just see that put on a T-shirt (picture of a cazador) This is PTSD!

Every time I see a swarm of these things I get twitchy, there is not enough ammo in the world.

My preferred tactic to deal with Cazas is to use the minigun to swat them down with a wall of lead.

Don't forget the fatman launcher.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cryos-R In reply to Varinki [2018-04-04 08:35:51 +0000 UTC]

I could never get the hang of that, plus it's a lobbing weapon and I prefer to blast them from a very long range before I get close enough to use the fatman.

Varinki In reply to Cryos-R [2018-04-04 08:38:54 +0000 UTC]

I was mucking around in the console and had unlimited ammo so I got a lot of practice with just hosing the area down with nukes.

Code-Shark In reply to JackAxeWell [2018-04-10 20:54:58 +0000 UTC]

Not in the wasteland. Ever time I have played that game, something steps up to block your path, be it the store's limited ammo is not the type you need, so you have to switch over to less powerful guns. Your armor is next to nothing, mostly what you scavenge off of the raiders you have killed, and what little caps you have go into buying stimpacks to keep yourself alive. Unfortunately Jenn walked in with none of that...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JackAxeWell In reply to Code-Shark [2018-04-11 01:02:28 +0000 UTC]

Hey that's the wasteland. It's unfair n is just one big test to see how far you can go til it breaks you...or until something kills you.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Code-Shark In reply to JackAxeWell [2018-04-11 08:21:48 +0000 UTC]

Aye, that is the waste land in a bit shell. And then there are those who play the game on Hard Core mode: radiation exposure is perminant, stimpacks take a long time to heal damage, limbs need to be set by a doctor. All the while you have to juggle, sleep deprivation, food intake, and dehydration. Jenn has her work cut out for her that is for sure. T.T
