I think you have a lovely composition as it is! Do you have a bird feeder? Every day for a few weeks recently I've thrown some seeds onto a bird feeder - if the birds birds are hungry, they'll wait for the food and eventually get used to your presence when they know you're the one giving it to them! I've managed to get within metres of them, even with my camera! Don't throw the seeds at them though, they won't appreciate that...

LOL I bet they wouldn't! I do have some bird feeders out, but they are new. I get a few birds in bad weather but they are still getting use to us being around.

Yep, you have to kill the 50/50 chance mode (autofocus). I have had shots that I have missed because, autofocus could not make up its mind on what to lock onto.
