Been a short while since i've posted anything, so i'll start the year with this. a couple mistakes here and there, especially with perspective, but i still wanted to make it work regardless.I've decided to do a small series of pics revisiting old mecha ideas i drew or thought up back when i was still in high school. this one's of a panzer frame called 'Iron Clad'. it's piloted by a young engineer/techy named Batch (the education system is based around a caste/career driven one, so students specialize at a young age). his sister Sari calls it the 'Bumbling Bee', much to his chagrin.
Btw, the circular things that look like nipples are actually its eyes - the top part that looks like the head is a separate unit called RAI (Remote Ascendant Intelligence) that aids the pilot with controlling the panzer frame. it's like the relationship between R2D2 and an X-Wing.

Brilliant concept. I wish i had one of those mechs in my garage. I like how the girl looks at the laptop. Great colouring. Welldone!

It's pretty neat revisiting old ideas and putting present skills to work, and this is an amazing tech design. I do love the little backstory happening and Sari's lil nickname for the mecha.

Woah, that wasn't actually! these names i came up ages ago when i was in high school. i like the name Sari ever since i heard it on Ocarina of Time, and the whole bumbling bee thing was a more recent addition cos my original colour scheme was gonna be different, but i ended up drifting towards a more yellow palette. it ended up looking like Bumble Bee, which i tried to go against initially, but liked it after cos the mech's design reminded me of an actual bumble bee. 'Bumbling Bee' isn't the name tho, that's the nickname she gives it. the real name is 'Iron Clad'. i love how things just fit in the end

Yes, ur talking about one of the Transformers cartoons where they look very stylized. i've seen a few episodes years ago, but i only remembered when u mentioned it just then. as i said before, i got the name Sari from Ocarina of Time (it's a nice name), and the whole Bumble Bee look was a design choice that i inevitably drifted toward. originally Iron Clad was supposed to be white/grey/light yellow/blue, cos i have another mecha character whose colour scheme is black and yellow and has a wasp/egyptian design. i kinda like this coincidence now that i think about it.

The volume implied by the black space is what really completes the composition, but the rendering is still fucking ALGEBRAIC.
