Description
Here's the final version of my commissioned oil painting. I used to be completely incapable of comprehending painting SO BIG a canvas. Back in highschool, I would sort-of dream of the far-off days when I would sprawl my artistic genius all over wall-sized canvases! I never seriously thought it would happen. More of a "wouldn't that be lovely" daydream. Now it's happening. If I look way, way back -- five, ten years -- this is the stuff I would have just DIED to be able to paint. To be able to conceive. It's crazy to think how I used to stare at paintings like this in idolatry. Granted, I'm not really that good yet. This is my first commissioned environment piece. Still, I've come a long way.This is a newer oil painting (though smaller):

I share your feelings, there's still a long way ahead of us. But looking back sometimes and trying to imagine showing what we do to the child we were back then and feeling how amazed he would be... thats awesome, I also do it sometimes, specially at the end of a hard day.

Btw, awesome landscape. I didn't knew you also painted oils. I started a couple of months ago, being used to photoshop mixing colors out of the tubes is so fcking slow...

I totally agree - I estimate that I work a full SEVEN times faster digitally. Traditional is such a pain, haha, but it's fun in its own way.

I actually like that you didn't warm it up too much. The coolness gives it that true "high altitude" feeling of crispness and loneliness you wouldn't get otherwise.

Hollah! It's been a while since I saw some of your work but DAMN Corbin, that's pretty rad. The colours work really well together and I think you did a nice job composition-wise. If it had been me I would've used a shade of blue a tad more towards the purple, I think, but then again, I'm still in the daydream stadium ;]
Also, that'll show the border agency whatever thing that stopped you from going to Gnomon.

Wow, I have to admit I actually sat and stared at this for a while because it's just so....well really can't think of a good word though beautiful does come to mind, then again so does epic, awesome, crazy good, lot of things really. I love it, especially the castle itself.
