Description
NOTE: If a title you like is not on this list, there are 3 reasons why:1. I have never played it.
2. I have no interest in it.
3. It isn't in my top 5 favorites.
If you have a difference in opinion, that's fine. Make a list of your own. I made the tablet here for that reason. Please use it and link me to your entries. But please don't bug me as to why I don't have any particular entry that you wanted on my list. Okay? [link]
But if you don't want to for whatever reason, list your favorites in the comments and I would happily enjoy reading them. Don't get the wrong idea, I love hearing your thoughts and feedback, it helps me greatly, but unnecessary questions just bug me. So without furthar delay, let's get to the list.
Time for something new! INCOMING!
Say hello to my next Quadruple Top 5! Where Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is the first game I played and I started with a Genesis, I still had a place in my heart for Nintendo's work! Mainly starting back in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. But when we sold both that and the Genesis, I had mixed feelings until the Nintendo 64 came around! Then my mixed feelings turned back to nothing but positive! Then we got a Gamecube a couple years after I finished with a certain game we'll be seeing later. Then just right out of the blue, the Wii came around and.... well... you get the picture. So in honor of that and with the Wii U (Or whatever it's going to be called) on the rise, we're once again going to delving into my mind for my take on my favorite Nintendo home console titles! Except the NES. I never owned one. And to be honest, where some were great classics on the NES, I never really found a reason to play them since the later games on the SNES were either the same or better. But I digress, we begin with the first of my memory! Let's get started!
Top 5 (1) Super Nintendo Entertainment System
5: F-Zero
Get used to seeing F-Zero on this list! I just love the series that much! I'm still trying to beat them. But they are truly difficult and extremely fast paced racing games! And the one that started it off is no exception! Having some of my favorite music in it and sound effects makes it one of the finest sounding games on the SNES! And the comic that went with it was rather entertaining, and the game itself plays pretty well too! It's like Super Mario Kart! Except less jumbled. There's more free flowing movement in gameplay and it just rocks the socks!
4: Yoshi's Island
This I consider more of a Yoshi game rather than a Mario game. (Yes, I know it's called Super Mario World 2, but I don't really care.) This title is a well done example of a classic sidescroller! I especially love it for what it represents Yoshi to be like to Mario. The bond between them is like Sonic and Tails in that where the sidekick can throw himself to harms way to help the hero without a second thought. And even if they do die many times in the process, atleast they can say "If not for me, the hero wouldn't even be alive right now." It's stuff like that that makes Yoshi one of my favorite Nintendo heroes. And he doesn't even need to be the sidekick either! He was perfectly capable of being the hero himself while Mario spent most of the time on his back or floating around and crying. Remind me to call Yoshi for babysitting if I need one.... not really.
3: Super Metroid
Where it's not my favorite in the Metroid series, it is definitely up there! I'd say it's my 4th favorite. Yeah... that low. But still, a worthy title in the series! And for a while, it was the last title until the release of Fusion. That's quite a while. But anyways, it has pretty much everything in it for a Metroid title! From atmospheric music, fast paced shooting, exploration (WITH A MAP! THANK YOU!) epic boss battles, and awesome new power ups! SHINE SPAAAAAAAAAARK!!!!!! (Wait, I'm losing health?! CRAP!) It also has one of the best examples of an emotionally powerful final boss. And even the opening was well done. Albeit a bit long, but oh well. Though, I'm not to particular about how it's seen as the best game ever made when many have proven to be more fun to me. It's like Ocarina of Time in that respect.
2: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
You saw this coming, right? That one of the best games in the Mario series would be on this list? What, you were expecting either this or Super Metroid to be number 1? Well too bad, this is my pick! This is the game that got me into the Mario series even more so than Super Mario World! It really impressed me to no end! And when I first played it, I really didn't know what to expect. Especially with that secret boss.... y'know... Culex. I got my butt handed to me many times, but I still kept at it, and I had so much fun playing it. I wanted to get it again, but a single cartridge is... in the triple digits?! Well, atleast it's on Virtual Console, so that worked out! It had some catchy music (Like most Mario games) one of my favorite final boss themes of all time, fun battle mechanics like your usual turnbased RPG, and yes, I liked Geno, and yes, I'd like to see Mallow and Geno in another game in the future, but I'm not holding my breathe.
1: Kirby Super Star
My absolute favorite game on the SNES is indeed Kirby Super Star! I couldn't possibly pick any other! I had the most fun on this title with a wide variety of abilities, a Co-Op system that started the trend in many games in the series to follow, out of this world-fun scenarios to complete with many hidden goods in them, fun boss fights, and even a couple of nice little minigames like Samurai Kirby and MEGATON PUNCH!!!! The best word I could possibly use to describe it is just... FUN! Unbelievably fun! And when playing a video game, that's what you're going for, isn't it? Just to play it, enjoy it, and have fun with it. Kirby Super Star managed to do that in spades! I was happy to have experienced it as a kid. I even remember that it was the first thing I ever drew! It even helped get me started on the road to being and artist with some inspirational help from my family! And I couldn't be thankful enough to Hal Labs for this! Though, I will admit it, if you want the full experience of all the best that this game would have to offer, I'd recommend the DS Ultra remake! It did everything a good remake should do! Kept all the great things about it, and fixed the ones that needed some fine tuning! But that's only if you have a DS, DSLite, DSi, XL, or a 3DS and you want something to play for it. If you want to play it on a TV, then go for it. Just whatever you do, give it a shot, whether it's for at home, on the TV, on the go, or ANYTHING, just go for it! I'm sure you won't be disappointed! At its time, it was Kirby at its finest! Nothing could beat it! It's Kirby Super Star, baby!
And that's it for the SNES games! Now for the N64 titles! Make sure you leave your thoughts in the comments below of what you think! Thanks! So without furthar delay, here's the games that brought me into the 3D world of games!
Top 5 (2) Nintendo 64
5. F-Zero X
I told ya F-Zero was gonna appear again, didn't I? This is one game that takes speed to a huge level of action racing! When I played the N64 for the first while, I loved Mario Kart 64, hated Diddy Kong Racing, but absolutely adored F-Zero X! It's music was rocking and epic, it's new addition of stat adjustments and Death Racing were well structured in that you have to think hard on what your strategy is, and it felt a whole lot more fluent intuitive than the original F-Zero!
4. Mischief Makers
Talk about underrated! I can't believe I let this one slip by me so easily! For a game that I just NOW got into, it still holds up as being a legitimately fun platformer! The humor, while at times weird or suggestive, is hilarious at least! The gameplay is fun and even has some puzzle-like elements to where you can't just hold right and jump like certain other platformers. The grab, shake, and throw mechanics are pretty unique when keeping others in mind, and I don't know why, but I just love how the main characters interract with eachother, whether it be humorous or dramatic. But I tell you, getting all the gold gems is brutally hard! Sometimes it would be in the hands of an enemy that I have to shake to get it and I wouldn't even know it because I already threw it to its death! But its worth it to see the full ending in the game and then hear what's one of the best end credits songs ever!
3. Super Smash Bros.
Good old Smash Bros! I never and I mean NEVER got tired of this classic fighting game! I even today go back to play it on my Virtual Console and still never get bored with it! Even despite how limited it was, but hey, it was meant to be like that of an arcade game. That and it was the first in the series. And yeah, it got me like many other people into some of Nintendo's lesser known series. Heck, I didn't know what Starfox or Earthbound was until I played Smash Bros. At the time, I was hugely into Pokemon as a kid and seeing Pikachu and Jigglypuff as playable characters just made my eyes sparkle and my stomach have butterflies in it! Then I saw Kirby after playing Kirby Super Star, then I instantly fell in love with it as a kid! I still call it my favorite fighter on the N64!
2. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
This is my favorite in the series for so many reasons. And yes, I feel that it's better than Ocarina of Time for several reasons. But rather than compare them, I'll just give my reasons why I love this particular game. It's music fits the atmosphere of a doomed world rather nicely in many different ways. The atmosphere itself is something new for not just a Zelda title, but a game itself. I haven't seen anything this dramatic and yet poetic in any other game up to the point where I gave Majora's Mask a play. I loved the concept of the different masks having different purposes and even transformation masks! Rolling around as a Goron was fast and fun, the Deku was interesting, but my favorite has to be the Zora! Water physics have never been so fun up to that point! The dungeons were actually pretty cool to go through, especially the Great Bay Temple and the Stone Tower Temple! (Oho- the Stone Tower Temple. Best dungeon in the series to me!) The folklore behind it was creepy, yet fascinating as all get out! But the one thing that got me in the game more than anything else, was the Kafei and Anju sub-plot! Aka, the Couple's Mask sidequest. It just got me in the heart everytime I redid it. Two lovers, after all that, decide to await the morning together with a smile..... *sniffle* Sorry about that, that was just the first time a game actually did that to me. And the fact that they knew the world was ending and there was no chance to survive the moon falling, and the song "Last End" that goes with it.... It just... cemented this game as the best in the series in my book!
1. Paper Mario
Now we get to Paper Mario. My favorite game for not just the N64, but for the entire Mario Franchise! I love this game to death! I'm not that into RPG's other than the Mario and Pokemon titles of the genre, but this one just takes the cake for all of it! It was well made, well written, programmed, composed, and EVERYTHING! There is nothing about this title that I don't love! It's bosses were fun to take down, the story was a fantastic ride, even if it still followed the whole "Defeat Bowser and Save Peach" deal! It just took that concept and made it more enjoyable! I loved all the chapters and found myself going through them several times! And taking on the dojo was also fun and fairly challenging! And yeah, I liked this much more than the following titles. Not saying they're bad, no! Not at all! The Thousand Year Door and Super Paper Mario are both fantastic themselves, but not enough to make it on the next following lists. Sorry. But yeah, if there is any game in the Mario series that I would ever go back to, it would definitely be Paper Mario!
There you go! My favorite N64 games! Up next is the big start of my early 2000's in gaming!
Top 5 (3) Nintendo Gamecube
5. F-Zero GX
Where is speed? HERE IS SPEED! Most Sonic games don't give as much speed as the toughest and most extreme entry in the F-Zero series! This title is by far the most fun in the series and has my favorite music and tracks to race on! It also has some of the best graphic visuals on the Gamecube platform itself! And it was the very first game that was co-developed by both Nintendo and SEGA! That's something worth noting! GX's also known for being the most difficult in the series for a good reason. It's story mode is HARD AS HELL! Seriously! I'm still stuck on the Grand Prix chapter because it wants you to win the entire Grand Prix without dying once! And just getting to the end without dying is hard enough to do! Let alone get the end in first place! The main Grand Prix mode itself is also very challenging! Even on Novice Mode, it can still give you a run for your money! So if you want a challenging racer, I can't recommend anything more than F-Zero GX! My favorite part OTHER than the racing however, has to be the character themes in the game's soundtrack! I can't help but workout to Captain Falcon's theme! It is truly one worthy of a hero!
4. Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
Sonic wasn't Mr. Yuji Naka's only great creation! Billy Hatcher was a nice change of pace from the speed-based platforming and had a very nice concept of being an egg-roller, squashing crows, feeding fruit to eggs by rolling over them, growing them to giant size, hatching them to get something nice out of them, finding golden Chicken Coins to unlock SEGA characters, and hatching golden eggs to release the Chicken elders to bring morning back to Morning Land and clear out the Crows to save the land while the great Chicken watches over you while you wear the Legendary Chicken Suit! (How trippy did that sound?!) As a platformer, it did very nicely! And it definately deserves a look if you let this gem slip by you! The younger brother of Sonic and NiGHTS and Amigo should never be forgotten!
3. Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
I was never that into the Donkey Kong Country series (Atleast not after the first one), didn't like DK64 that much (Kept getting lost) and wasn't particular about Diddy Kong Racing. I haven't tried Donkey Kong Country Returns yet, though I'm considering it. But one thing I do know is that Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is BOSS! It made full use out of what the Gamecube was truly capable of visual-wise, and gameplay-wise! It used the DK Bongos controller and truly felt like a good combination of a complete Donkey Kong platformer and an arcade title with its main concept of clapping your hands to rack up a combo to increase your score and ready yourself for a fight of one of 5 different styles! A Robotic Elephant that shoots explosive pineapples and a NOSE LAZAAAAAR!!! A bird that launches feather knives, a warthog that throws electric coconuts at you, an emperor beast riding a giant hog head, and lastly, a fist fight to the finish against a fellow Kong Gorilla! And each fight, each action, each combo, each level is so much fun to play through again and again! I just wish I didn't sell my copy. Maybe I'll get it again since I still wanna finish it against the true final boss! I will one day, dang it!
2. Super Smash Bros. Melee
Super Smash Bros. was one of the best N64 titles ever made, so to keep the crazy train going, Nintendo and Hal Labs did just what any good development company team would do. Make a sequel! Thus, as a released title with the Gamecube, we got Super Smash Bros. Melee! And as a sequel, it does what any good sequel should do! Bring to the table what made the first game great, work out the problems that the first one had, and add in new material to keep it fresh! And that's what we got with Melee! We got the classic arcade mode with a new final boss, Master Hand and Crazy Hand, a ton of new characters, some of which I never even knew existed (And yes, I liked most of the clones, even Pichu.), a sweet new Adventure mode that was full of throwbacks to the many Nintendo games that it was made of (My favorite being the classic fanfare of the Metroid-Escape sequence.) with a legitimately tough final battle against Giga Bowser, a huge trophy collection to unlock, a crapton of stages to unlock, a wide variety of songs from the game to listen to in sound test, and pretty much everything but a kitchen sink! If only those screenshots of Sonic and Tails being playable weren't just April Fools Jokes. Oh well. As the first game that I played on the Gamecube, it was definitely one of my personal faves! (Duh, that's why it's this high on the list, dude.) I still remember when I was a little kid back in Christmas of 2002, I first got it, played it, and loved it just like I did for the N64 game! Good times.
1. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
After Sonic 2, I spent some time out of the series until I got back into the cartoons and comics, then finally the Sonic OVA. Then I went to this one Toys R Us when I was a kid and saw this one demo of Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast. I decided to try it out and I started on the first Eggman mission. I didn't think much of it, but then the Gamecube game came out and I went for it! I wanted to get back into Sonic for a long time, and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was the gift to do so! My grandparents got it for me for Christmas the year after we got a Gamecube with Smash Bros Melee! I started and all of a sudden couldn't stop! This is what got me back into Sonic after so long! And I didn't ever look back! I kept going with the Sonic series from there and even through the thick of it, I never left! Heck, not even Sonic 06 was enough to push me away!
And now, for the moment you've all been waiting for! (I think...) Nintendo's most recent Home Console and waiting for the successor!
Top 5 (4) Nintendo Wii
5. Metroid Other M
I've already explained this twice. Do I really have to go over with it again?
4. Okami
If you're wondering why this isn't number 1 anymore, it's because a couple things. One, Joshscorcher did manage to point out flaws in the game that I couldn't help but agree with. Despite still loving the game, I won't deny that it's far from perfect. Two, the other three above it accomplished something that Okami hasn't done as much of. A long lasting appeal and charm. But it's still on my list for a reason. It's still fun, beautiful, has great music, a nice concept, and fun bosses and puzzles with only a few exceptions. I kind of got lost when going through the story, but thanks to Chuggaaconroy's Let's Play, I can finish it. Though it will take a while.
3. Sonic Colors
Okay, seriously, how many of you knew that it would be on this list somewhere? Yeah, you know how much I love the Sonic series by now! And where I was okay with Sonic Unleashed on the Wii, I did prefer the 360 counterpart. BUT Sonic Colors brought Sonic back to the Wii in SPADES! While Sonic and the Black Knight brought him back with Diamonds! (*Facepalm* Incredibly lame joke) Sonic Colors is definitely a true successor to Unleashed in so many ways! It kept the running engine from the Daytime Stages and included new Wisp Power-Ups that include the CUBE, SPIKES, FRENZY, HOVER, VOID (DS version) BURST (DS version) ROCKET, DRILL, and LASER!!! (Yes, that's in order for my Top 9 Favorite Wisps in both the DS and Wii versions.) Each one was fun to use and even gave me a few ideas for some of my stories! Remember Viktor Kingfisher from TRONiGHTS Dream of the Grid? His Electron Spark was inspired directly by the Cyan Laser, but that's a different story. What I love the most about Sonic Colors is what it represents. It represents SEGA and Sonic Teams efforts to listen to the unpleaseable fanbase. They try their hardest but still get shot down by the unapeaseable. That's one thing I respect about them. They never stop trying, nor should they! Sonic and NiGHTS are both huge examples of effort to never give up! And THAT'S why I love Sonic Colors! Why it isn't any higher? Well, I just like the other two a bit more. That's all.
2. Kirby's Return To Dreamland
Hmm... What can I say about Kirby's Return to Dreamland? I think the Beer Guy pretty much summed it up with this video here. [link] But, I still have a few things to say myself. It was fun in all areas, including the bonus stages and especially the mini-games, it stayed interesting from start to finish even with its surprise final battle (Though it's not like I didn't see it coming), it's hard mode was indeed playing through everything again, but it wasn't so bad since it even had a few new surprises that I even didn't see coming! From the return of a boss that we've only seen in a beta trailer and a boss that we didn't expect from a past game that I mentioned earlier in this Quadruple Top 5. What I love the most about this however, is the abilities you can get! The moves for each ability are all throwbacks from Kirby Super Star, Amazing Mirror, and Squeak Squad! (All of which I loved!) And they actually made Tornado the best ability in the game! (Seriously, it TEARS BOSSES APART!!!) But nothing's more fun than creating complete havoc with the SUPER ABILITIES!!! The MONSTER FLAME, the SNOW BOWL, the GRANDE HAMMER, the ULTRA SWORD, and the FLARE BEAM!!! (Hey, check it out! Another Top 5!) They are all so satisfying to use and destroy everything in sight! Really shows how much Kirby has grown since his SNES and Game Boy days!
1. NiGHTS Journey of Dreams
I think I've explained enough of this to not have to explain anymore. But why it's gone up higher than Okami is that Okami hasn't really kept its consistant charm with me like NiGHTS Journey of Dreams has. Especially after playing NiGHTS into Dreams some time later! So yeah, I am updating this now. I like Journey of Dreams much more now! The charm was enough to keep its spot. I have no problems with it other than stuff I've already gone over several times, and I'm not looking back! Like Sonic, I'm sticking with NiGHTS! Now if only we can get Rodea the Sky Soldier! I REALLY want to play Mr. Naka's latest creation! Release it already, developers!
And that's it for this Quadruple Top 5! I hope you all enjoyed this! Next time, we're gonna Volt Tackle my Quadruple Top 5 Favorite GEN I-IV Pokemon! I am the Soulwind Skater, and until then, I will see you later!

A very cool list, really. But unfortunatley I know here only "Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island" (GBA version), "Super Smash Bros.", "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask", "Paper Mario", "Donkey Kong Jungle Beat" and "Super Smash Bros. Melee", but they're good games!

Not much of Gunstar Heroes, but I love the everloving crap out of both Sin & Punishment games! The N64 list is outdated because I want to say that my second favorite N64 game is the first S&P while I want to put the second one in 3rd place on the Wii list!

I've played the Wii Klonoa, is it anything like that? And I know full well what Guilty Gear is... and I love it, by the way! But I've only played Guilty Gear XX on the 360.

And? I don't mind bad voice acting. In fact, I like it. It reminds me that I'm playing a game and not something too serious. I like not having to take a game seriously for performances.

Don't get me wrong. I still think Ocarina of Time is still a great game. But yeah, I just love Majora's Mask miles more! The story, the music, the dungeons, the bosses, characters, everything in that game is done right!

yep i agree , like how you get to play as a zora, goron and deku because it gives the game different gameplay
