Short Bio

Sugar Surprise certainly lives up to her name. She was a surprise pregnancy for her family, and she’s been chock full of surprises ever since she was born. As a baby, she liked to build unusual things out of her blocks, and as a small foal, she had the most interesting art projects. No one expected to make a record player out of paper plates and some pipe cleaners, but she did it.

She was a bit of a chatterbox. She talked at length about how she was going to build a building shaped like a lamp someday, or invent a collar that’ll help her talk to animals, or make mechanical wings to fly with her sister C.C. If she had an idea, she wanted to yammer on about it to anyone who was around, whether they wanted to hear it or not. At least her parents listened to her ideas, and pondered if they could work.

Sugar would usually pop in whenever her parents were performing maintenance on the party cannons and other party devices, and she was always curious about how they worked. She has taken apart some of the devices, as well as some things in the house like a clock, but didn’t know how to put them back together, which was a little frustrating for Pinkie and Cheese. Still, they’d teach her if she just asked!

If not poking at devices, she’d sometimes decide that she was in a girly mood and have a tea party. No reason, she just finds making “tea” (actually chocolate milk) and baking cookies (which she’s surprisingly good it) fun, as well as speaking in a posh voice and acting proper. She sometimes dragged her family members into it, which they find weird because she was messing with that clock this morning. Pinkie, Fudge, and C.C. do enjoy the tea parties, though (the boys… not so much).

They soon figured that Sugar just liked activities that were an outlet for her wild imagination, be it inventing, baking, and playing pretend. While she mainly liked getting her hooves dirty with the wrenches and gears in an attempt to make something to make life easier and to stretch her brain muscles, anything was good for her. She even wants to invent something to stop Berry from blowing some of her projects up.

Finally, after years of pulling things apart and putting them back together, building weird things that were ultimately useless, studying sciences, reading instructions and trying to create her own designs, and accidentally setting things on fire, she finally built a working party cannon, which was to replace Pinkie’s old one after it broke down for good, which she and her siblings stamped their hoofprints on to show love for her. Seeing her mom overjoyed with the present, Sugar got her cutie mark.

She’d be working on building more things for years to come. Some worked out great, liking building a home radio system so she could communicate from her room, her own engine-powered wagon for fast travel, and the mini elevator for when she needed food delivered to her room so she didn’t waste precious designing time. Other times… her attempts at building robots ended with them either falling apart, or going on a rampage. Or blowing up. Sometimes, her family, especially Rocky Road, thinks she should just stick to fixing existing machines.
Still, she is a stubborn girl, and will not stop, even if the neighbors beg her to.
