Description 1) Frost Giant
The Giants of the North are an ancient race, going back to times before humanoids were born, living in a land of colossal wars among titans. Today, only a few of this ancient race can be found, and only where temperatures reach their extreme, lowest peak. Most can be found in the Arctic, while those few who live on the peaks of the tallest mountains have, with time, become a separate species.
Frost Giants are creatures of colossal stature and strenght, able to crumble rocks with extreme ease. They are expert climbers, and no terrain is an actual obstacle for them. The most infamous ability of these titans, however, remains their power to shape ice and frost in whatever form they wish. While not an actual form of Cryokinesis, the giants use this ability of theirs to form crude weapons out of pure blocks of ice. Infamous is also their power to attain energy from thunderstorms, seeking out lightning bolts to feed on the raw power of nature. As long as thunder and ice support it, a giant will endure the passing of time.
Surprisingly, the Giants are completely sentient creatures, capable of understanding and speaking any language. Despite this, they feel no need to form civilzations of any sort, and are mostly loners. Today, they watch the world of the 'little ones' with what can be considered pitiful contempt. While rarely interested, they may sometimes enjoy being treated as dieties and worshipped by humanoids, rarely giving any ounce of mystic power;

2) Ciclops
THe one-eyed giants known as Ciclops are nearly as old a the Giants themselves, but just like them, their numbers are lowering every year. Yet, they pay little mind to it.
These giants are hulking humanoids with leathery gray skin, big tusks (bigger in males) and colossal limbs. Strong and sturdy, they can withstand a quantity of damage that would utterly annhilate most other creatures, sometimes even the Frost Giants themselves.
Nowadays, most Cyclopes are just wandering brutes who carry maces around and plunder villages. This is mostly because, while omnivore, they seem to have developed a taste for humanoid flesh. It is said that once, they were great blacksmiths and engineers, but then degenerated into mindless monsters. Whatever the truth, coming eye-to-eye with a cyclops means that you either are a good runner, or a good meal;

3) Troll
Trolls are great simian creatures with colossal strenght and a hunger to match. Comparable to Monkeys in intelligence, Trolls are a prosperous race that wanders in the forests of the whole world. Brutal predators, Trolls feed on pretty much any meat source they can overpower and push down their gullet.
Possessing great strenght, Trolls can also count on a hard, rock-like hide that makes it very hard to harm them, save mostly for their belly and chest. To help in their quest for food, their jaws can part just like Snake's, allowing them to gorge down a whide array of prey.
Once completely savage creatures, the Trolls are in these days often seen alongside Orc tribes or Goblin raid parties, having mostly been 'domesticated' if one could say. Their high intelligence making it easy to tech them basic commands and have them understand. Some even have been subject to selective breeding, creating a race able to understand and speak the language of their masters;

4) Manticore
Manticores are dangerous predators that roam torrid regions, like deserts and savannahs. POwerful and fast, these hunters are among the best this environment could offer. Exceptional bite force, sharp teeth and dagger-like claws, coupled with the feline's strenght, make this creature a threat for most inhabitants of the savannahs. Yet, the Manticore has another trick up its sleeve: venom. The tip of the long, flexible tail is covered in stinger-like protusions, each covered by a strong neurotoxin. As if it wasn't bad enough, it gets worse, as the stingers are loosely attacjed to the animal and come off easily, thus giving the predator a ranged weapon. the Manticore is able, with just a swing of the tail, to launch these spikes like poisoned arrows to hit is target from distance.
The mouth of the creature cointains 3 rows of needle-sharp teeth, ideal for rendering the flesh of victims with the aid of its sharp talons. Highly territorial, Manticores often scout their territory, signaling their possessions with secretions and their trumpet-like roars.
The Manticore is a pack hunter, able as such to prey on nearly any being in its habitat. Females do most of the hunt while males patrol the territory. They hunt by ambushing prey from afar, using their stingers to paralyze the prey before throwing themselves at the defenseless victim to finish the job. Though they have no difficult taste when it comes to eating, they seem to have developed a passion for humanoid, or however intelligent, prey.

Males and females Manticore are the same size, reaching the height of around 1.2 meters at the shoulder and a head-body length of 3 meters.

----------------------

here we go again, with more strenght than evah!

A precisation is required: What I am doing is a completely re-do of the Zoology book, as such creating new environments and such. For exemple, I did not compare Manticores to Lions for a simple reason: in this world, Manticores ARE Lions. Or as close as one can come. I don't know how many survival chances a common Lion could have when its environment is filled with Carcharodontosauruses, Smilodon, and also be able to prey on species like Ceratopsians and such, so...here we go

You're really getting good at illustrating long fur. Nice job, bro.

1) The frost giant's fur looks fantastic, though overall I have to say it looks way, way too much like Blizzard.

3) The troll's probably my favorite of the bunch, especially with that vaguely tapir-like head.

4) Strange color scheme, and the overall design looks a bit plain, but I like it nonetheless.

Thanks!

1) It's more for the texture, really. I was halfway through the drawing when I remembered Blizzard. Honestly, I did take inspiration, but in the end...just a giant gorilla with slight ice powers? Yep, definetly Blizzard. I just don't know what to do. I like the idea of simian Giants, following the trail of Bigfoot, the Yeti and so on, and the Gorilla seemed the best option. I would even have referenced to an ancient emnity with Dragons to tribute Kong vs Godzilla, but whatever. I recently thought that, rather than the gorilla, I might take the alternative of the Orang-utan, as they really do have 'beards', or a Baboon/Mandrill for the hell of it.

3) Glad you like it. In the end, I just went with it, not really looking at any living creature save for general features.

4) Yeah, it's a bit of a story, but whatever. The color was chosen for it is said the manticore had dried blood-colored fur, and the human head, which I made pale as to differentiate it from the body. In the end, it's just a red lion with a white head and stingers on the tail, just as I wanted. You may have read that these are my world's lions, so that's it.

No toughts on the Cyclop? XD

1) I would've made them look more like Japanese macaques, seeing as they're associated with snow and whatnot. But that's just me.

3) Well you have been working on a good troll design for a while, and it shows.

Not really, the Cyclops just didn't appeal to me. I know about the whole "elephant skulls inspired cyclopes" thing, but still.
