in a day and age where they already know? I've seen eight year old's at a PG 13 movie. You ain't doing anyone any favors patronizing them or making them think the world is a fairy tail. You are not preparing for the world if you lie to them. Children already know a lot more the we give them credit for so its stupid to think we should protect them from what they already know. I'm not gonna talk to a child any different then anyone else. I'm going tell them like it and treat them with the real maturity they do posses.
No-one is full of total innocence or any of that anymore. Not in this day age acting like is or trying to sugarcoat or shelter them from the evils of the world? You are crippling them and making them not understand what the real world is about if you think telling them its always a happy ending and bad things don't happen there.
A student in my MLPEG fanfic named Tecna Mark at Canterlot High School web show is called "The Real World Unenchanted" for a reason and its not just for the teenagers its to really show the world is and the Mane Seven agree and are helping their friend with showing exactly what the real world is beyond their ability to pony up.
Don't treat children like they ain't smart enough to know what what. I won't lie to a child and make believe that things are okay. That's not getting the ready for the reality which we live in. You seen how much blood and death is already around us and you think its a good idea to tell them its not real?
People need to accept reality as it is and if you do it through a cartoon or tell them like it is in the long run they are gonna be a lot better off then treating them like they are too dumb not to understand. Kids are a HELL of a lot more mature and smarter then we give them credit for and we are NOT doing them any favors making them think things are perfect and happy and sugar and sweets!
So no sheltering them as you call it? That will do more damage in the long run instead of getting them to understand the world as it is. And again its 2016 almost 2017 time of sheltering has long passed. I ain't gonna patronizing a child and make them think that life is a damn fairy tale. I'm gonna make sure they get the truth and it ain't sugarcoated either.
So they can learn the lessons they really need to learn like accepted people for who they are and not have stupid unimportant things. I want shows that show acceptance to all things. Like how falling in love with the same sex is not a sin or that people are sometimes born in the real world or how not to make a fuss on something stupid like a zit is no big deal compared to world hunger.
Actually teach them about the real world and what really matters and not thinking you need to make a world that is no longer a happy world safe. Accept that reality can be harsh, cruel and so can people and you need to understand the real important lessons of what really matters.
So no I don't think as you call it 'sheltering' is doing anyone especially the CHILD any favors. It's hurting them more then protecting them!

of course it does, that's the joke. i'm sure they put it in there intending for it to make the adults and more mature audiences watching the show laugh. and the fact that it was in a convention, the breeding ground for inappropriate and mentally disturbing fan merchandise, (the stories my cousin tells me are horrific) makes it even more fitting but is extremely mild as for what the creators COULD have added. and that supposed sex scene in the ball pit is just a cry for attention. people need to lighten up. not like a six year old knows what a body pillow is any way. if you don't point it out to them then they wont notice it or even care about it.
