I would fire an employee like this in a blink of an eye.

The company had no right to fire her if she wasn't running the blog from within the company or from a company owned device. Her personal life and working life are completely separate and the company fired her for no good reason. If she wasn't saying "I work for this company. Here: let me draw porn of their characters", then there was no need to fire her. I assure you many of her former co-workers also watched porn and some may even be like her, running their own porn blog of a sort. The company didn't agree with her fetish and so combined her work life with her personal life and fired her, making up an excuse to make it seem like she was the bad guy.
If she was enjoying working there and never had problems, she should have been kept on as an employee. The employer was obviously thinking of his own views in this case and fired her with the excuse of it being against company policy. The policy only covers that from being done inside the company itself. It doesn't cover personal life issues. I wouldn't be surprised if she threw up a complaint on her blog.

I go with what Divides said, working life & personal life are SEPARATE! If for example she did run the blog in company computers, boss or IT Department finds out, then yes, it created a scandal of some sort. So it's legal. But in this case, it's not. She don't deserve it.

A difficult question. On one hand, it's not fair to fire someone over something they do in their personal life (and technically, not a crime), on the other hand, if the public found out that the business had that kind of employee, it would severely hurt it. Innocent people could've lost their jobs.
I raised more questions than I answered, didn't I?

I do wanna add that under the hypothetical situation mentioned, if there wasn't the inclusion of mention of a "contractual obligation", then yes, I wouldn't be nearly as conflicted: That would make me genuinely pissed off with the company.
But even so, I still have some seriously misgivings over whether or not such a contract should really exist... so it still feels... "icky" XD.

"Do YOU think she should have been let go from the company for drawing this kind of content? "
So, technically my answer is, "no".
But I always get irritated with this kind of thing because while I HATE both the notions that people will be judged for producing pornographic content and that what a person does in their free time should have anything to do with their job (I mean, in principal, if you're not paying them for every hour that they live then you shouldn't have influence over every hour that they live), it's hard for me to say if I can really blame the companies, who are usually covering their own asses, or just society in general, for making this kind of stuff "a thing" >.<.

I think that I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. These characters were created for children and are very innocent in their natures. To do host a blog like that featuring them is highly questionable at best, amoral at most. Even if the company had nothing to do with the show, I would say that this would be grounds for termination as it would bring the integrity of the employee into question. It was not just a few art pieces or favorites/reblogs, it was a whole blog dedicated to porn.
This is like that crazy chick that worked for Nintendo of America who was railing on families, supporting pedophiles, verbally attacking customers, and selling gross lewd photos of herself. Nintendo is a VERY family centric company and she was the manager of their Twitter PR.
It's house rules. This is what you signed on for and these are the terms you agreed to. If you can't control yourself, then whatever happens is your fault. Amorality and lack of standards has its consequences and this is one of them.

I've seen this before. There has been a trend with employers that they think their employees must represent the company 24/7 even when they are off. This is the main reason why I try to keep off of social media as much as I can.

Not really; what people do during their free time is their own business. Whether it's porno from some furry fan-based industry, slamming a few beers or otherwise.
EVEN THEN; you discover the woman runs a MLP Porno Blog..... Does this change anything in the office? Does this mean the woman is a pedophile? Does this mean that woman is Hitler?
FCK NO! Unless proven otherwise, firing someone based on their own hobbies is just juvenile.
.....Sides, I've seen stupider reasons to be fired; If you worked in I.T. and for Papa Johns, the shit from there gets really messed up.

I... SORT OF understand their concern. I don't think it's right though. So I guess, when I get right down to it, no, I don't think she should have been fired.
But I ALSO think, given her line of work, she should've created and Jane Doe account that wouldn't have been associated to herself. I have secondary accounts that I don't tell my friends about so that I can talk about naughtier topics and not be judged by them.
Lots of people enjoy porn. If you wanted people to stop making it, I hope you're fine with not having it EVER AGAIN.

One, I don't think she should of been fired for that... Because one why is sex bad...... Why is drawing sex bad???? I understand that she was working with a children's place but what if she was actually practicing drawing or trying to get money from drawing.... I'm sorry I don't understand why people think drawing or having sex is bad??? I literally understand some parents don't want their kids to find out about sex but they are no matter what age they are they will get curious.... They will look at porn or hentai... I don't see a problem with looking at that or anything.....

Well, it's not really a question of "was it morally okay for her to be hosting a MLP porn site?" (that's a whole inflammatory debate in itself), but really, "was the company justified in firing her for a legal thing she was doing in her off hours?" Normally, I would say no, but the company she worked for is a "children's entertainment brand", so it makes sense that they wouldn't want their employees to be associated with that; it could be incredibly damaging for the company's reputation if they didn't condemn it or distance themselves from the association. So in this case, I'd say it's pretty much justified.

Well, if I was to judge this from the "she made pornography of ponies from a children's show" point of view, YES
Judging from the fact that it says she worked specifically for a "Children's entertainment brand" and was drawing this kind of stuff, YES
MAYBE, and only MAYBE would alright for her to stay on if it wasn't for the fact that, SHE WAS WORKING FOR CHILDREN ENTERTAINMENT, AND WAS DRAWING PORN, OF A CHILDREN'S SHOW!
There is no debate here, she got what she deserved. It's none of my business, but If you want to do that kind of sick stuff, do it offline and keep it to yourself.

But no, I'm a prudish dickweasle for expressing my right to freedom of opinion as a human being. And while I have no right to attempt to "repress" anyone. And believe you me, I don't want to repress anyone, so it doesn't really matter. You have the right to repress my opinion? Make me keep MY opinion to myself?
Last time I checked sexual kinks are something you do in your private life. You aren't supposed to post them to social media and show them off to everyone. Especially when it's something that could obviously have an effect on your line of work.
Imagine if a zoo found out that their zookeeper made beastiality porn. Or you found out a mortician was an open necrophiliac. All because they posted it on the internet. Yeah, maybe it's not my problem, but if it's on the internet, that means basically the person wants people to know about it and give their opinion. It goes from private life to public. And I'm sorry that you don't share my opinion that every single part of a person's life doesn't need to be posted on the internet. Otherwise they're 'repressing' themselves.
But no, go ahead insult me, because that's your right on the internet. I honestly hope you have a great day, and you have nothing but happiness and a peaceful mind for the rest of your life.

I'm not saying repress it, I'm just saying when it's something that 'different' and your in a certain line of work, you should try harder to not be found out. She worked in children's entertainment. Imagine if a child had seen that stuff. Sexual kinks are not meant to be shared with the entire world. And putting them on the internet is basically saying 'here I am world, judge me' the woman should have found a different way to have dealt with the urges.
And also, I never said everyone should think the way I do. I Obviously just like everyone else simply put my own opinion.
And my opinion is that, she was making beastiality porn, OF A CHILDREN'S SHOW. Therefore, due to her line of work, she should have been fired. I'm not saying she should stop the hobby, or try to repress the kink. Just don't do it in a way where your job can find out, LIKE POSTING IT ON THE INTERNET.

Yes, it would be better, but what you don't realize is that isn't how the world works. I'm sorry about what happened to you, but that doesn't mean you can basically beat down people with insults just because you think differently. It's just as bad as what people did to you. You think your the only person who has dealt with this sort of thing? My opinion is because I and friends of mine have dealt with similar problems. I am a bisexual gender fluid person. People disrespect me all the time because of what I am. But there is a big difference between someone's sexual kinks and they're gender, sexuality or race. Kinks are something you share with whoever you plan on doing that sort of thing with. Not the internet where everyone judges people and can cause these kind of things. Imagine if you had young children, and they accidentally saw the pornography this woman made, wouldn't that bother you at least a little? I'm not saying it's bad that that's what she likes, and well, I'm sorry but looking at it from the employers perspective, I think they were right to fire her. Again I am sorry about whatever happened to you, but you should realize sexual kinks are part of private life, and by posting it on the internet, it becomes public, and you have to face the consequences of that. Yea people should be more accepting, but they aren't by nature. Humans fear that which is different from themselves. And that fear causes them to do stupid horrible things like fire people for their kinks. The internet is a harsh place, and you have to be careful about where and how you post stuff. She should have been more careful.

If she brought it into work, the best way to handle the situation is to tell not to do it again. If she does it again, dock her pay. And if she does it again, then you fire her. But she could've not brought it up at all at work, and somebody perverted found it, was going to get punished, and put the blame to her.
