Having written about the MLP community for years now, it's amazing to me how many people in it draw porn of its characters!

If you stay in it long enough, you become more open minded; so as the fandom ages, the idea of mature art being acceptable begins to grow. Personally, I find the attraction comes in both the interesting juxtaposition of sexuality and innocence, as well as just the thrill of making something naughty lol.

There's a theory going about that there is a correlation between the amount of people who attend BronyCon and the amount of people who draw pony porn.

If it's a correlation it's an unrelated one. Kind of like people with large hands die younger. It may be a correlation, but the two aren't directly related to each other.

While they really shouldn't have fired her for what she does in her free time. I can see why the company did, people will be up in arms if someone who worked in the children's industry for drawing porn despite they themselves not being the most pure people in the world.
Also so depending on the state, a company can fire you for any reason at anytime with or without explanation

I suppose it depends on what is written in the contract - in this case there may have been a clause about not doing things like this :@(

Normally, I wouldn't mind. But she was part of the ENTERTAINMENT industry.
She would obviously get fired for showing porn about something like MLP.

For the people at the top, those who get ALL the attention. No.
For the people at the bottom, those who BARELY get any attention. Maybe.

Hmm... it is true that this lady has the right to do whatever she wishes in her free time, but yet there is nothing stopping authority from firing her if they wish. In reality, it becomes narrowed down to what the company wants, simply because they are in charge and have the right to maintain any image they desire. It may seem "not fair" to most bystanders to take this woman's job, but as the employee her job is to prove herself as efficient and desirable to the company, and if the company sees her as UNdesirable then they have the right to fire her just as she has the right to pursue any legal activity she wishes. The woman could have also chosen not to risk her job IN THE FIRST PLACE by choosing not to draw or distribute porn, but instead she took that risk and faced consequences. Case closed from a factual perspective.

You raise a good point. Do you think employers should be allowed to look closely at your personal life?

Xarsha In reply to Cuddlepug [2016-08-08 00:13:15 +0000 UTC]
Another good question. It's obviously already in controversy of being an invasion of privacy, but that's pretty easy to tell right off the bat. More importantly though, this could be taken advantage of by the employer. The employer could use such information to hyper-control the employee through blackmail, emotional/mental manipulation, ect. I understand that businesses have a duty to keep a close eye on their employees, but I personally think it could become detrimental or potentially even hazordous for employees. Plus, I personally think that employees should have a right to keep their relationships with their employers completely superfical and productivity focused. That's more opinionated then factual, though.

This is incredibly stupid. It's none of the company's business what this girl does in her free time, and while I don't look at MLP porn myself, there's no harm in It's existence, so I can't see anything here that could damage the company. Plus, how did they even find out about it in the first place, and finally, nobody would be able to link up the blog to the workplace anyway, so what does it matter?

I suppose is someone could draw a connection between the creator and the employee it could jeopardise the business - like a school teacher working on the side as a sex worker.

Quite a lot tbh. At least the more time the child spends around people who have or who goes on the internet often.

That was actually a dumb reason to fire someone, it was her personal business that wasn't affecting the actions of her jobs' companies.

If it's a publicly-facing position and their actions could lose the company business wouldn't that potentially be reason enough to question this sort of behaviour?

yes, it is important. you may think NSFW is "okay", but there's a lot going in your brain during viewing of it that you may not know about it. So yes, you must read it so you will be informed and educated about the truth of the NSFW stuff you like.

okay I've had enough. You know what you're doing and are trying to fool me by acting childish. (YOU CAN'T EVEN SPELL THE WORD "WATCH" CORRECTLY) if you (figuratively speaking) got cancer from that video then a part of you acknowledges the truth but you yourself deny it. So keep on viewing that NSFW stuff you love as you wish. It will consume you and take over your life through addiction and other brain damage.
I have tried to reason with you but you're just being childish and unreasonable. So I'm adding you to my blocked list. Mark my words, you will regret your choice of blatant denial of the truth about NSFW (aka pornography).

I Know Rollercoaster Here For Long and I think he don't have a brain damage like you, And he Is Just Learning Much About the Human Body, And He Still Looks at porn And he is still normal And what should it do to him, he is not someone who is easy minded, and I think your the childish here, it's okay that you hate porn But other can love what they want to, they don't need to hate it too just because you don't like it, everyone has the right to love and to look at the things they love, So Long it's Not to Disgusting what would be in your eyes porn in first place, but hey i hate Some Fetishes, On This site, But I have some myself, and well, to be honest, i feel still great, I don't have to Real Life Problems with my Sexual Preferences, And Rollercoaster Has No Problems too in his life because he feels great when he is drawing such stuff, And Rollercoaster Don't deny the truth, What part should he deny, he is just a human like me and you,

I mean, this isn't an unheard of thing. Especially with a company like hers where their main clients/customers are children and families, porn isn't exactly family friendly and having someone with a porn blog associated with their company will only hurt their image. I wonder if she had to sign anything upon being hired about it (like inappropriate internet presence type stuff).
