Fun fact! Speedwind can actually use those tendrils on his elbows as whips. And naturally he's devilishly talented in doing so. Since their reef is relatively safe place to live
most often Speedwind makes use of his talents to keep Mercury out of trouble.

Rody and Mercury are both somewhat misfits around their own kin, so Speedwind has pretty much adopted them. Or at first he adopted Mercury who occupies the cave next to his and soon after Rody realized Speedwind has a knack of getting rid of pushy people politely but efficiently, so Rody too is often seen hanging around Speedwind. He's the voice of reason when it comes to Mercury's silly ideas and handily large back to hide behind for Rody.
