hey there, I found your art thanks to and I have to say, this looks soo pretty. I envy your talent at watercoloring, especially the way you made the 'scales' on the corset of the dress, it's really well done.
The way the skirt of the dress flows in the water looks natural too. The only thing is that in the bottom left corner, we could see legs or some body part, given how her upper body is placed, but it's a detail.
I quite like how you made the shading on the corset, with the different colors giving the 'iridescent' appearance of the sun reflecting on some fish skin, I don't know how you managed to do it, and I'd like to know how you did, it's really awesome.
The hair is greatly done as well, flowing and going about anywhere. Were I to nitpick, I'd say that maybe (just maybe as I am not fully certain of it) there wouldn't be lighter part on the 'under' part of some strand as the sun comes from above her. I'd also say that perhaps her skin could be lighter, as she live under water (though, maybe not? she just has the ability to go underwater and play with fish?) and that her forefinger on her left hand is a big squarish at the tip, but that would really be nitpicking as it doesn't take the greatness away from this art piece.
More seriously, I don't know what to make of her facial expression, it looks a bit... evil? or mean spirited? As if she had some plot in mind involving fish or something, or as if she was about to make the poor little fish in front of her meet their fate, as a foretelling to some gruesome story, event to come.
Anyway, that's great art (and the 'Golden scales" is too, though this one looks more... sympathetic? or childish maybe. Perhaps it's due to the color scheme, not sure)

I didn't want her legs visible, because I aimed for her being merged with the background, sort of not knowing where the water ends and she starts.
This piece is more symbolic than real - so no, she doesn't actually live underwater XD yet she is naturally very pale!
She is a serious type - yet I totally failed with her mouth, hence the odd expression, the inking went wrong and I didn't have much changes to fix it. The sketch looked better!

You greatly succeeded in what you wanted to achieve then: there is no telling where the water ends and where the dress/girl starts.
However, if I may say, I'm not sure only the mouth/lips are to blame, the way you made the eye gives a sort of "evil" expression to her (in my opinion anyway)

The beauty of your water colour continue to inspire me.
The flow of the water blue is simple, uneven but amazingly calm. The flow and the changes in tone of the blue gives so much space to imagine.
I am too much of a person who fills the colour within the grid and is constantly admiring those that can create a beautiful image using uneven collouring.
The fishes and the skirt also just have enough detail to present elegance in your own interpretation without being realistic. Its a fantasy painting, and it needs the space for imagination!!
Although I can see that the characters you paint are out of proportion, I just love that you have your own style and present all your characters in the same way. Keep up the fantastic work!!

The secret is to use enough water and let the color flow quite loosely

I wanted her dress to flow with the background and almost merge with the water
I had a debate with myself about the hair - while I don't think she looks old at all I do agree there might be too much highlights, however since her hair is black, having it a solid dark color would have overruled the picture too much for my taste, hence I decided to keep it lighter. Her features are pointy on purpose though.
She almost has this Michael Jackson type of a very narrow and pointy nose (no plastic surgery done however).
Watercolors are not meant to be very bright :3 but... well washed out XD especially here where I wanted the image to have a very light feel to it. And hence I wanted the attention to the fishes I kept the rest of the details to bare minimum - just like in the counterpart pic too. But I'll totally keep that seashell idea for my other work of her!
She's not glamorous at all - but rather quite serene, serious and humble. Sadly I ruined the mouth while inking and couldn't save it with coloring nuuu....
Composition refers to where stuff lays on the canvas - what you mentioned is flow within the image. She's only meant to look at the one fish close to her and the rest was meant to be surrounding her in a circular motion of a moving water
- or at least that's what I was aiming for XD
