Fun fact! Speedwind can actually use those tendrils on his elbows as whips. And naturally he's devilishly talented in doing so. Since their reef is relatively safe place to livemost often Speedwind makes use of his talents to keep Mercury out of trouble.
Rody and Mercury are both somewhat misfits around their own kin, so Speedwind has pretty much adopted them. Or at first he adopted Mercury who occupies the cave next to his and soon after Rody realized Speedwind has a knack of getting rid of pushy people politely but efficiently, so Rody too is often seen hanging around Speedwind. He's the voice of reason when it comes to Mercury's silly ideas and handily large back to hide behind for Rody.

Rody's arm was a tricky one D: I tried many different poses with it but none seemed to fit so I left i hidden.
The nipple thing is something I'm a bit inconsistent of
- most of the fish people don't have nipples, but Mercury is kinda special case. I gotta decide on that hmm.
I also get the point with the stripes - but I think I did pretty well on Speedwind, how do you think his stripes then should be improved?
I'm sort of searching for a style that I feel most happy with - here I tried a bit more softer style than usual and I really like it, but I definitely don't want to go any more painterly than it already is. Cell-shaded style is closer to what I think I want to work with.

Well I feel they'd hurt like hell if something pulled on them like that! But hey, fantasy is all about suspension of disbelief isn't it and it makes for a cute scene!

Water has some resistance so I suppose it wouldn't be that bad as it would on land - but hey they are whips aren't they supposed to hurt? ;D
But well Speed is good at using them so I think he knows how to do it so that most injuries are avoided

Ah I meant it'd hurt him! The end where they connect to his arms is very thin, if you tugged on that it's gonna feel like pulling hair, probably worse

The tendrils are actually rooted on the back of his upper arm all the way up, like the actual fish has it attached to it's spine,
so it's just not the thin area on the elbows. Besides I think he'd be using his hands to grab the tendrils and whip them around in any case
