Personally I never liked GW's technique for highlighting black armor it just seem TOO cartoony...
Me, I use an even simpler technique just dry brush VERY lightly over the armor and than use Duvlan Mud wash or simple
Chaos Black wash on those areas, especially on the lower legs. Because all of us know for a FACT, that black is well...
damn near impossible to keep clean from dust or dirt or what have you.
But with this technique you get a black suit of armor that reacts to light like real armor but at different angles still looks pitch black.

You might try auto levelling the colors on these photos and color adjusting it to white. Might make em more visible.
Lovely chaplain btw, this is the one i picked up too...cant stand the ribs tho...i'm laboring through the hacking off and re sculpting of his chest.

probably nothing more fantastic than the good ol fashoined wings. can't go wrong with the gold standard. maybe even leave it smooth and paint somethin on. gilding maybe.

Looks really good, nice highlighting... except the cloth has a bit red paint spilled, but you've seen it already... Still looks better then what I have could done...
