I did everything that is written down step by step, but everything ends up in one line.. I know I am supposed to use the < br > but they don't seem to work? Am i using them wrong maybe?

I was looking for it, I searched your entire gallery, but I am probably bad at it because I couldn't find anything,
My question is, is there any easier way to change the ID background color?
Do I have to go through all this if the only thing I want to change is the color- not any, just white?

You can't just use a code and change the bg color. You need to create a white background image and then use it using the tutorial.

For some reason my profile picture won't show up. I've put the URL and direct link where they should go, but still nothing. Also, is there a particular size for a deviant-ID image you would recommend?

That's strange. You should take the image link from when it not in the editing mode (like when it is normal)

In the step 3. You need to take the direct-image-link when you are not in the edit mode of your devID widget.

Same here, whenever I try to put background image in my DA ID box, it doesn't show my profile picture.

This is probably not fixable, however, I am always using this site on mobile. I usually never use computers, and my ID and text is far to the left when I'm on my phone. Otherwise, on computers it's fine. Any suggestions?

Well, there's no fix for that as such.
But I'll soon be updating the code (and the tutorial) and I think that should solve this problem.
