This is amazing! But I have a question- I have my lineart, I set a new layer and put it below the lineart, just as you did here. But when I color, nothing comes up :/ It's all on the new layer that's below it. I'm really new at digital art so I have no lcue how to fix it Oh and I have GIMP too...

is your lineart on a white background? If so, make yourline art layer on multiply.
Then it should work.

I don't know how to change it to multiply As I said I'm really new to digital art and GIMP so I'm pretty clueless... sorry

On the layers box, theres a litle section that says "mode: normal
then under that is the opacity and stuff.
well, click on the mode, and change the layer to multiply.<3

That doesn't seem to be working either I changed the lineart layer to multiply, added the new layer, but when I move it below the lineart the whole screen just turned to that layer (it's all the little gray squares). Even when I put that layer on multiply it doesn't work. Grr. Technology hates me.

The little gray squares are the transparency.
Those are good LOL
did you try colouring under the lineart layer with the lineart layer on multiply? o;

It's so you can see it more easily if there's color outside of the lines, or if you erased a bit too much inside the lines.
You can see bright colors a lot easier than dull colors.

dang i dont even color the right way XD, that is if there actually is a right way, however....
i have my ink ( which is somehow always rough), empty layer beneath it and then create a layer per color.... i also never knew the lock transparency tip, thanks, for that that will safe me a lot of time with erasing and itsy bitsy pointing...

I have a question ^^' Sorry if you don't understand it, it's sort of long!
Ok, so I've done the sketch the lineart. I went to the sketch layer and erased the sketch. But that made the lineart layer show the pixels, and I'm not sure how to just make it a white background ^^' If the sketch is there, it's white, but I need to erase the sketch. How do I erase the sketch without causing the lineart layer to show the pixels?

Daesiy In reply to IntusAsper [2011-12-29 23:46:55 +0000 UTC]
I think you probably sketched on the background layer! In that case, just paint over the sketch using white. c:

Can you help me with the magic wand tool? It selects all the lineart instead of the outside of the lineart :/
π: 0 β©: 1
Daesiy In reply to TheStringofFate [2011-09-25 05:05:55 +0000 UTC]
You probably have a gap somewhere in your lineart. Once the lineart is solid and continuous the magic wand tool should work. c:
