"Cyberbullying" is when a child, preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teen using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones. It has to have a minor on both sides, or at least have been instigated by a minor against another minor. Once adults become involved, it is plain and simple cyber-harassment or cyberstalking. Adult cyber-harassment or cyberstalking is NEVER called cyberbullying.Read more here- [link]

giving a helpful critique. disliking something you do like. politely telling you the rules of a website arguing and/or debatingI swear, people on this website throw the word cyber bully and troll around like its nothing.
You give a thoughtful crit that has some negative points in it, you are a cyber bully/troll.
You point out that a person is stealing artwork or breaking the rules, you are a cyber bully/troll.
You correct someone's grammar, you are a cyber bully/troll.
Some of these kids today are so freaking weak.

Lol, not really, I think it's good to express your opinion, and I'm glad you did. It's not healthy or safe for everyone to live on edge, worried about stepping over someone's breaking point. You're never gonna please everyone in the world, that's a fact. There will always be at least ONE hater, no matter what. Nobody's perfect.

Thanks, Β and you're right. We need to stop freaking out over the tiny things. People take things way too seriously. I know folks that'd call people who care and love children as pedophiles (in reality, if that was truelly the case...90% the globe would have that title). Yup, you can have something that is beyond amazing and there will always be that one person who says "OMG! That's SOOO offensive!"

Exactly!! Though technically pedophile isn't the term for the act of molesting the child. Pedophiles can exist and live without going to jail as long as they find a way to get over their attraction to little children.

I tend to get a kick out of trolls, but I am easily ticked off, so I tend to call everyone who's being mean to me a troll just so I have something to call them. Haha!!

I HATE people that do that. Especially when they spell it like "Ur gun 2 die" or some junk like that...People who type like that around me tend to get their heads chewed off. I'm a human being and want an intelligent conversation. Is that too hard to ask?

I agree with every point you make...except that 'bullying' is only limited to minors.
Although, I do see the distinctions you make...May I ask a question? Why is it that, when dealing with adults, the term bullying is never used? I'm not trying to be rude, so please don't take it that way, I just don't understand. I mean, adults are capable of being bullied as well...aren't they?

That's what I was always told :/ I think 'harassment' is the 'proper' word for it, but adults can be bullied and children can be harassed. There's not really any difference between them, as far as I'm concerned :/

Same here. Β In the end, age really doesn't matter. Β Anyone can be bullied/harassed.
I mean, a child can bully an adult and vice versa, it's not always a child bullying a child or an adult bullying an adult. Especially on the internet, because age doesn't always show and no one can physically see you (unless you post pics of yourself).

I have a friend who actually experienced genuine cyber bullying first hand from a person she knew irl, so it really pisses me off to see people labeling anything that annoys them as cyber bullying.

A cyber-bully isn't only that. A cyber bully will harass another person over and over, just for laughs. Β Just like a bully in real life.
Trust me, I would know. A cyber-bully would get all his friends to bag on you, call your art worthless because he knows how much it means to you. Say you're one of the stupidest people he knows, and you'll feel happy that he said "one of the stupidest" because that means he knows someone stupider than you....
I'm speaking from experience here.... it hurts, but you can pull through.

I've only encountered trolls on the internet but never cyber bully's. I was accused of being a cyber bully for stating I like the dubbed anime better than the subbed...after I kept replying calmly to the person who made false statements why the dub is bad and why I am 'death' for liking the dub ya know? :sighs:

I've read so many articles about people who were cyberbullied, and in EVERY SING ONE was about a kid being just hyper-sensitive and taking it WAY too seriously.

People are idiots. I'm doing a thesis on cyberbullying at the moment and I swear if I was ethically permitted to use some of your examples, they'd be out there because it's a bloody farse.
