Let you see - Toother and Me. I have made for you our common portrait to show you Toother's real size. When I had made a photo, on the basis of which I have made this drawing, Toother has 3 months old and about 38 cm (15 inches) in length and 1,5 kg (3,3 pounds) in weight, so I still could take him into one hand and keep like that. But Toother is growing fast and now I can't do it again!
I remember how many times I were trying to hold him still and urged him to look directly to camera, but he was more curious about my finger pointing at the camera than about it self. After some attempts I have decide that I won't make a better composition, because Toother starts to be choosy - in fact, how many times could I wag my finger before his eyes and have hope that next time he won't bite it? Toother is very impatient. After about ten minutes he started to wriggle and I have start to worry that he can fall down because Toother sill can't fly. All time he was fidget, pawed his legs and trying to escape somehow from my hand, even climber over my shoulder using his small, but definitely edged claws. My favourite shirt hasn't made this...
But at least, I have made a funny photos. Oh, and by the way - now you can also see that Toother is definitely not a "Toothless", in both meanings, or Gap-toothed (Szczerbaty - that's how our translators in Poland call Toothless). Toother has 14 teeth in lower jaw and 16 in upper jaw - in each one he has 2 pairs of pseudo-incisor teeth, 2 pairs of true-fangs, 3 pairs of premolar-like teeth in lower and 4 pairs in upper jaw. But all his teeth are pencile-like and quite narrow. Toother's teeth are embedded not in mandibula and maxilla bone, like human, but in movable hyloid bones.
Soon, I'll start a new project - professional Night Fury's Anatomy Atlas with elements of Dragonology and Dragons Taxonomy. I hope you'll enjoy!

Niech każdy zna - Zębaty i Ja. Wykonałem dla was nasz wspólny portret aby pokazać wam faktyczne rozmiary Zębatka.
Wkrótce rozpocznę nowy projekt - profesjonalny Atlas Anatomii Nocnych Furii z elementami Dragonologii i Taksonomii Smoków. Mam nadzieje, że się wam spodoba!

Oh! hehehe... I wish to. But, in my knowledge, Toother is the only one. I have hear about some "fury-like" dragon in Canada but... only Toother is real for sure. I'm so happy that you like him so much. Thank you, my friend.

That's true; all babies are very impatient, especially dragon babies. Toother is a little wriggler ;D Thank you my friend; I'm so happy that you like it.

True, true... Now Toother is definitely more patient dragon; he knows how my ordinary day looks like and he detects very well what time is it. I have to wake up on 4 a.m. to manage to go to my work and take Toother outside for a short walk (and pee ); it's a best time cause streets are empty and near my floor is small park (a square with few trees and bushes). But for last few months Toother wakes me up just before the alarm-clock and when I walk back after work I see how curtain in window are moving; a sign that Toother was waiting for me in window. Now, he is really nice and polite dragon, but I still worry cause I suppose that I spent not enough time with him and it's not good idea any more to keep a young dragon in small floor, in heart of one of the big city. But I still have no idea what to do with this problem.

That really sounds like a nice dragon, but Night Furys are smart and I think he knows who is feeding him
Although I think the size problem could become a bigger problem. Literally. A dragon the size of a horse and bigger certainly doesn't fit very well in a normal flat. Especially in a big city and many curious people around. Very difficult to solve. I think you must move the country (and buy a large stable or something). Plus Toother will also have to fly someday and the big city is probably not the best place for that.

that's true! But I suppose that when Toother will be to big for a small room and keeping him in flat starts to be really problematic, my old friend from Hight School might be able to help; her family has a stud farm near Kraków. One horse-size creature more or less won't be a big problem; she was my good friend and I believe that she will help my in such a problem. But I'm trying to find a quite place for living far from big city for my own. City isn't a good place not only for dragon but also for me. Krakow have a huge problem with air pollution; it's not easy to find here a cheap flat and good job so... maybe all signs on earth and in heavens show that we both should find a new home. We will see how this all will end.

I would really like to see her face, when you tell her, "well.... it's not a horse. It just have the size of a horse. It's a gragon." LOL But really? I don't think there will any problem. maybe with the horses being a Little bit ticked of with a large predator around, but not your friend. Who could resist the face of a Night Fury after all?
Huge citys are not good for the air, I see. If you can find somewhere else a place and a work, then go for it! Where you are happy is your home!

Toother, as always, looks adorable. What I really like though is the amount of detail put into the picture on the wall! In an overall feedback, everything on it is flawless!

I'm happy that you like my exactitude and liking for details. I believe that if I make something, I should make it the best I can. I try to depict Toother in realistic backgroud to show him as a real animal and thanks to this, make him more realistic, more probable. I'm glad that I made this right and you like it. Thanks!

I dunno, there is already a Nightfury named Toothless. Could have been a little more original in a name. Your art's great, but just saying.

DanGref In reply to Sirens-Voice [2014-11-18 15:38:01 +0000 UTC]
Yea... I know. In Polish his name sound much better and more original (Zębaty) and have nothing compare with Toothless, even in Polish translation - Szczerbatek. Toother was a best idea for translation Zębaty into English. I know: it doesn't sounds too good, but it was the best idea I had. And, by the way, Toother (Zębaty) is an original Fury dragon, cause he's a Carpathian fury, not a Scandinavian fury, like Toothless.
But no matter what, I'm glad that you like my drawings. I hope that you will like my next pictures too. Thanks for comment!

Carpathian fury... that reminds me of this Animal Planet film (in Britain I think it's called The Last Dragon or something) about how Dragons evolved from prehistory into the medieval period, I think it's on YouTube. The end is sad, tho. Where are Valka and the Good Alpha when you need them? IT WAS IN A GLACIER, TOO!!! Actually a mountain but oh well.

I know that para-documentary movie very well. It's a famous "The Last Dragon", also known as "Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real". The dragon shown in this movie was a one of subspecies of Romanian longhorn (Longcornus dacus). people form Animal Planet have made a good job; it's really wonderful movie about dragons.

I would be a wonderful art, my dear! Thank you for this - I wish to see Toother drawn by you. So...
Toother is dark-grey, almost black but his skin is little bit shiny so it looks lighter in daylight and much more darker in night, in artificial light. His marking are darker because they looks like his scales; skin on markings have thousands small, dark shiny points, some kind of chromatophores - small paints in skin which can change theirs color, like in chameleon's skin. I suppose that in UV light they glow! But only in UV.
