Description
Here's something that I wasn't going to post, but I did. This is another piece that I did for my senior project class. I had a week to do the sketches, the pencils, the colors and the text. Not to mention all the other class final projects that I had to do along with work... It wasn't a fun momment of my life lets just say.
as you can tell my backgrounds need work as well as anatomy. But I'll improve on that.

I was hoping you'd post this. I saw it on your site before I noticed you submitted here as well. I really like this. The action is really good. And those colors are to die for... like always. My favorite panels are the third and forth ones. The timing is absolutely perfect in those. Don't you hate it when your the projects that could very well be your favorites are ruined by the other ones and the time limit your given to do them? I honestly don't miss that about school.
...
Though, it did force me to get things done.

Your coloring skills are comic-quality. Even better than most that I have seen. I hope you plan on a coloring tutorial sometime.

you're such a bastard.....haha, sorry...j/k.
your colors/painting just keeps getting better. such an original approach to coloring, i don't ever see colors like this in comics. thats why i love it so much!
yeah, you have some drawing stuff to work on, story telling is probably what i'd work on before anything else. your drawings are pretty good, its just a little hard to read...i mean, i can follow, its no problem, but i just get confused about what's going on at first. 1 page stories are damn hard to do well...because, there really never is a one page story. but anyways, i would have pulled back on some of the shots....and given an establishing shot to start with. or at least second panel...and switched up the camera angles. but needless to say, these still kick major ass.

Hahaha.... I don't remember that last time I saw some real violence in TMNT. I remember my parents wouldn't let me watch it as a kid simply because they kicked the "bad guys".
As you said, your BGs and anatomy need some work, but that all comes with practice. It seems you're having a difficult time when working in action angles and poses. I keep in mind that you had tons of other work as well, so I commend you for keeping it up! You have great determination

Heh. I think it's cute that this was so horrible that you considered NOT posting it, yet the coloring in this is FAR and away better than anything *I* and do currently.
That being said, I do understand, tho.
The quality scale starts to slide higher and higher the better you get. And you are definately tops in your craft.
The second half of this page is great. Even with the lack of background details. The first 4 panles, however, doesn't really read that well. Slash's face jumping out like that, it's hard to tell were exactly to go from there. Not to mention, he's facing away from the flow of the page, where as all the other action goes the other way.
Of course, lettering will save the day... but as is, it's kinda jumbled.
But then, I guess that's why you wanted this to be a 'hidden' jem, eh? :3

Well, you certainly need no help on craftsmanship!
Is each panel as separate file, and compiled and arranged to form each panel?

No worries, son.. plenty of people suck at backgrounds.. like me. heh heh.
On another note.. why aren't the ninja turtles that we see in cartoons and the more recent comics hardcore, arse kicking, "i am one with the shadows, b!tc# !!", ninjas that everyone knows they're supposed to be? Where's the hot ninja action? This page here is a good example of what turtles could be like if people wrote it properly. Good work, as usual, man.

the fact of the matter is that when anything is created for kids, it's extremely hard to make something great out of it. The only reason why the first TMNT movie was really any good, was because the director had kids and adults in mind when filming it. That was something that the other movies lacked as well as the cartoons. I doubt that the editors would allow raph throwing a sai into Slash's neck. You can't use guns to kill, you can show knives stabbing people. Though there's usually a loop hole to this. you can allways allways shoot, stab, kill, explode an evil ugly monster creature. Because they are bad and scary, and etc. Never fails how this is over looked. Though slash is much liek the turtles so I doubt it would be excepted.
But anyway, hardcore turtle action, even more so then the movie, would be the way to go for greatness. anything else is really just childsplay.

Im not sure if Archie TMNT Comic had all this that you said.
i remember that in the Comic Ralf Kill Splinter, not 100% sure, but the Archie Comic ver of TMNT was way darker than any of the movies or cartoon.
and a darker story for TMNT should kick ass in the new series, but ... the new series just sucks... way to childish, well... less than before ( in the past i like it... but because i was a kid lol )

you're talking about a comic book. I'm talking about multimedia. Sadly comics are viewed by a small protion of people. while film, is viewed by a entirely greater amount of people. Maybe that's a good thing in a bad way, but the comic book doesn't count. I know that I didn't get into the tmnt because of the comic book, ask any average person, who knows about the TMNT, how they came to know of the TMNT and they will say either because of the cartoon show or the movie or even matbe because of the products. These are the average people not the artists, or the combook fanboys. And yes I know of the comic book being darker. but keep in mindthat the audience for comicbooks is not wide ranging. It doesn't need to be kid friendly all the time unless kids are going to be the target audience.

Yeah, some of your body parts in this pic arent as they supose to be, but with a little bit more practice you can master it completly
and the background, well i just recomend more detail, i know its a pain sometimes, but the shadows and stuff make a background look more real.
but the detail on the characters and the coloring its always really good on your drawing, something we have always like on your pics
