Description
Here's something that I wasn't going to post, but I did. This is another piece that I did for my senior project class. I had a week to do the sketches, the pencils, the colors and the text. Not to mention all the other class final projects that I had to do along with work... It wasn't a fun momment of my life lets just say.
as you can tell my backgrounds need work as well as anatomy. But I'll improve on that.

Impressive work conveying the movement of the cazzas, especially on the second last panel there.
A tip: The turtles tended to bulge more than humans do, so really push the muscles (especially in the bi's and tri's) out a bit more. You want them sticking out well past the normal circumference of their arms, if you knomsayin.

I am in love with Slash's teeth XD
Overall, the colouring and dynamic posing look great. I love your colouring and detail. Yeah, anatmoy's a witch to draw, especially when it's set in action O_O As long as one has the will to perservere!
I hope you don't mind this, but the panel in which Slash first punches Raph seems a bit weak, in fact it looks like he missed. Perhaps a few more definite speedlines or a reaction on Raph's face to the punch could help level that out.
I don't know why but Leo and seems to "floating" in the air rather than leaping, I'm not sure how to remedy it.
The water splash worked out well well Raph flying off ^^
I hope you don't my comments, and I knot it's very late since I highly doubt you'll dre-do this, perhaps something to keep in mind for the future?
ANyway, I love the colouring and ninja action going on here. A sure for me
Hoep to see some more ^_^

You drew SLASH!!
Yay, eh's ma fav turtle!!! I like the panelling, nice easy flow, the anatomy is pretty good, but the coloruing is by far the best!!! Yo really have tapped the programs powers The top right panel is only dodgy cos Slash has a pin head, but proportionate on the other pics

thekidKaos [2004-11-13 20:03:28 +0000 UTC]
Yeah Dan!!
In general I like it , but I have few things to say on that...
1. I think Raph's pose on pannel 2 fails a little (the are coming to the reader looks a little strange)
2. Maybe more evilness on Slash. A good way of doing it without deforming too much the face to do the expression, is by the perspective of the head. the way the mask affects his eyes is always a good way to get expressions for eyes.
3. Also I see a little strange Raph's pose on his last pannel (throwing his weapon).
Don't know if you have this trick as ref, but if you don't, I tell you >> every character must express it's pose JUST with the silouete, and on this pannel I donΒ΄t see it works with silouete.
Sorry for saying all this stuff, but that's what I say. I'm a great fan of your work , but yeah you do well training your pencils.
If you allow me, I can do a sketch to show you some corrections. Maybe it would help.
Nothing to say on your kick assing colors.
Hope this comment don't bother you.

Once again, amazing. And I can't help but marvel at your colors. Which I'm sure you have heard from many of your fans. But, gawd, I really need to work harder. XD My coloring skills are so cruddy. And this, this is so insperational.
And, of course, an obvious fav.

jeebus dan. That's fecking awesome. Yeah I could see where you need some tweaking on your anatomy, but hey, it looks artistic enough for you to get away with it man. the medium isn't always perfectly anatomical... I mean... Look at guys like Lefield. Thunder thighs galore with muscles that have muscles! sheebus. Anywho... great work, my favorite panel has to be the long shit with all four of them standing in front of Slash. Very epic lookin. Anyway you can post a close up of that one?

wow, ive actually got a crit for you after all this time ... the comic as a whole works in my opinion. your style has no problems with it, and your detail is, as
always incredible. but.. im having a problem some things. one would be the fourth frame - the one where he's punching rafael -
a) i found it kinda hard to get how he was punching him.. in that in this frame, he arm behind rafael is blurred, but the bit of his arm you see infront of him isnt,
and for a couple seconds i thought that was his hand - so maybe that should've had a bit of the blur in it too to add to the dynamics?
b.) in the big middle frame (congratz btw im digging the big frameage, its sexy) - the 'other' hand of his is hitting the ground, the one with the blade. wasnt his other
one punching? hmm maybe im missing something but i didnt get the link between those two frames, that's all.
aside from that, no real problems, im muchly digging your color works in this, the very sewer-like greens keep this lookin' good, and your highlights and lighting in
general really add to it
haha one last thing - wtf is this course id rather be doing that instead of what my parents want me to do (graphic design course)

trust me this class is not worth that much. I just lucked out and got to pick my own product.
any way, thanks for the critique.
a.) I totally see what you mean in this one, definitely should have connected the blur instead of hiding it behind the head.
b.) this one I think you're missing. He punches with one hand and throws a "slash" punch with the other hand which happens to be holding the blade. You punch with one hand and then punch with the other. I think it flows better then punching with the same hand?

Oh yeah, I know the tunnel on the 5th panel is showing on the right side but this kind of off sets the panel. It just blends into the panel border.
