Description YAY a tutorial! I don't normally do these, but I've been asked before - and since I'm currently working on so many pieces of art, I figured I might as well do some tutorials at the same time

Character portrayed is (c) Copyright . I'm making a full color picture of her as a free-sketch even prize for *bratkitty , so this is the process I used to draw up her sketch

More tutorials to come!

Haha wow! You do these steps every time you make drawing? Looks like it takes time but beautiful as your drawings are,the time is worth it.

thank you actually it takes almost no time at all XD without shapes i find myself sitting there re-drawing parts over and over and over again in attempt to make them fit.. by doing the simple shapes (which take what? a second to block in?) it's much faster and more accurate ^^ that sketch took me like five minutes

This is so helpful, thank you! I normally try and sketch things out, but I tend to keep my inner critic tuned in. I should stop that But thank you! I'll try this the next time I draw.

Thanks for the tutorial! But I might have issues because I'm free handed and I don't draw like this. D:

DarlingMionette In reply to GiantPurpleCat [2010-04-16 14:00:19 +0000 UTC]

I used to draw freehanded too XD and still can fairly well ^^ but after a couple of years I've noticed that i do less "fixing" in my final stage if I draw with forms it's just a time saver ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GiantPurpleCat In reply to DarlingMionette [2010-04-17 01:01:55 +0000 UTC]

True, but I don't use shapes to help me draw because, either I'm too lazy or I don't want to ruin my drawing when I use them.

This is a really helpful tutorial! I have problems drawing full body poses when they aren't front on (and even then I fail without a reference), so this will help. And it seems like you had fun with it, which just makes me want to use it as a reference even more. BEWBIES! Heheh.

Well, bewbs is such a fun word so I can't blame you for losing control. Lol. I can't wait until I have the time to test out some of the techniques you mentioned in the tutorial. You make it look so easy, but I'm sure I'm destined for phailure.

DarlingMionette In reply to myaku-utsu [2010-04-16 01:35:07 +0000 UTC]

talking from experience, we make it harder on ourselves than it has to be XD we can be so critical of our work.. the fun part about sketches is you can let go and just scribble it doesn't have to be perfect - that's what clean up is for later. XD

myaku-utsu In reply to DarlingMionette [2010-04-16 02:04:42 +0000 UTC]

That's very true. : ) I just need to learn to get to that point with my art. Lol. I got there with my writing (kinda), so I can do it with art too! Yosh!! XD
