Description
YAY a tutorial! I don't normally do these, but I've been asked before - and since I'm currently working on so many pieces of art, I figured I might as well do some tutorials at the same timeCharacter portrayed is (c) Copyright . I'm making a full color picture of her as a free-sketch even prize for *bratkitty , so this is the process I used to draw up her sketch
More tutorials to come!

I tried using your method, it really helps in getting the proportion right and everything well at first, but then when it comes to the actual drawing... urgh.

Geez, it really helps! Not defining your lines at first, and then slowly working on details... but I have a question, how do you draw the face once the sketching is done? The eyes, nose, mouth... stuff like that?

O.o... Now I know what I'm doing wrong and why I can't draw. I tend to start off with too defined lines and then end up getting lost as I go along. This really helps, thanks!

This is going to sound weird but...could you possibly show a tutorial on how you "clean up" the sketch and whatnot? Those steps always confuzzle me.

I would if i cleaned up my sketches, but i dont XD i import my sketch into SAI and ink over it on another layer there's no cleaning up involved

Thank you!
For a while, I'd been having trouble with sketching odd poses/perspective.
Every tutorial I looked at just had instructions on how to draw people facing front and standing straight up.
Thanks for yours, it'll help me a lot.

hey, for the sketch and lineart, did you use your mouse to draw all of it?? or maybe you used a pen tablet?
can we make a lineart for SAI based on a sketch that we made with pencil and paper? (bcause in Photoshop, I use pen tool to make the outline of my sketch)
please help me.. thanks before!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DarlingMionette In reply to bonifaciusaditama [2010-04-29 13:10:44 +0000 UTC]
For the sketch - if you're going to draw directly in the program, you'll probably need a tablet.
For the lineart, you can use the mouse just fine - i almost never use the tablet for my lineart, and yes, you can import scanned sketches just fine in order to ink them

bonifaciusaditama In reply to DarlingMionette [2010-04-29 14:33:44 +0000 UTC]
but if I use my mouse, I can't make the line as smooth as to what I did with photoshop.

DarlingMionette In reply to bonifaciusaditama [2010-04-29 14:41:47 +0000 UTC]
XD sure you can, using the curve tool it's like the pen tool in photoshop- not a freehand tool.

YES, you have no idea how helpful this is XD. I've looked at other proportion tutorials but all the poses were all stationary and they never showed you how to draw a dynamic pose step by step. Thank you!
